  • Midst Toil and Tribulation: Safehold Series, Book 6

    • UNABRIDGED (28 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By David Weber
    • Narrated By Kevin T. Collins
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After centuries of stasis, the island kingdom of Charis began to defy the edicts of the Church of God Awaiting - egged on, some say, by the mysterious warrior-monk Merlin Athawes. Now, in the wars and intrigues that have cascaded from Charis's declaration of independence, the populous Republic of Siddermark is sliding into chaos.

Ryan says: "Narrator is HORRIBLE - Love this series"
"Narrator's problem is getting pronunciation right."
Would you try another book from David Weber and/or Kevin T. Collins?

David Weber is that a rhetorical question????? YES!!!!!!Kevin T. Collins problem is geting it pronunciation right. He is not the most talented narrator I have ever heard but he is good.

What did you like best about this story?

The thing I like about this book or any David Weber book is that he pints a truly excellent socio political environment that many mistake for filler.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin T. Collins’s performances?

Yes not execaly he's fault for geting it righ.

    Any additional comments?

I have looked up the pronunciation for 3 of the words before writing this and to my surprise the narrator Kevin T. Collins was the one to get it right not the over narrators. I found that every time Kevin T. Collins used the correct pronunciation raver then the one I was used to it who'd grinded on my nerves. If you have not listened to the over books I do not think this will bother you.It wood have been best if Kevin T. Collins stuck to the same pronunciation as in the over 5 books but I can not blame the man for doing the job right.Just to be clear Kevin T. Collins did a good job what degraded the experiences for me was not he's fault.

  • The Dragons of Dorcastle: The Pillars of Reality, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Jack Campbell
    • Narrated By MacLeod Andrews

The Mechanics and the Mages have been bitter rivals, agreeing only on the need to keep the world they rule from changing. But now a Storm approaches, one that could sweep away everything humans have built. Only one person has any chance of uniting enough of Dematr behind her to stop the Storm, but the Great Guilds and many others will stop at nothing to defeat her.

Katie says: "Huh....Well there are dragons. Kinda."
"Talented Author Takes a Shot At a Different Genre."
Would you consider the audio edition of The Dragons of Dorcastle to be better than the print version?

Don't know have not read the text.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The story develops around two main characters, can't choose between the two

    Which scene was your favorite?

The entry book is wall written I can't say that any scene stood out on its own. Conversely there no scene that is poorly developed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

If you listen to the entire book and not grin once there is something wrong with you.

    Any additional comments?

The author Jack Campbell aka John G Hemry, Takes a shot at a different genre I did not doubt that the book would be wall written and was not disappointed. The author also delivered an excellent story set in an interesting new world. This fist book in a series is unique. But then every series that John G Hemry has created is. The narrator MacLeod Andrews delivers an excellent performance.

Even if you prefer military SF I would strongly recommend that you try this title.

  • Deconverted: A Journey from Religion to Reason

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Seth Andrews
    • Narrated By Seth Andrews
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Assertions like these seem comical until you realize that many Christian parents aren't kidding when they teach them to their children as facts. Every day, impressionable young minds are conditioned to blindly accept wild biblical tales of floating zoos, talking shrubbery, 900-year-old humans, the undead, curses, levitation, demon/human hybrids and men who obtain super-human strength from the length of their hair. Allegiance to these teachings is expected, often demanded.

Mark says: "A very good primer from one who knows the game."
    Any additional comments?

Anyone expensing doubts about their religion should listen to this. I never experienced hard core indoctrination and of the indoctrination I have, I have only done so at the hands of my grand and grand grand parents. I had become an atheist long before my 18th birthday this was long before Mr Dawkins, The God Delusion. I found this look at an early life of of someone in a strongly religious family and the De-conversion is truly FASCINATING.

On the over note Seth um can you narrate some over books ........ please?
