This audiobook was my first book away from the only author I ever read. I took the risk on this one and I am so glad I did. Loved the storyline- had me guessing in so many different spots. I can tell the author really thought the story through and had made sure everything would flow correctly. I've listened to this audiobook twice now and wouldn't change a thing. The narration was perfect. The actors fit the parts and I felt like I could see them while I was listening. This audiobook is perfect for the listener that likes twists and turns!

After reading Gone Girl and loving it, I was so excited to see that Gillian Flynn had two other books on audible. I was discouraged because the amount of reviews/ rating didn't seem as great as those for Gone Girl. I finally bought Dark Places yesterday and holy *@#!- it was so good!!!! Exceeded my expectations completely.

Yes, it is dark- there were a few uncomfortable moments, but well worth the uncomfort to get the rest of the story. The author has a way of crafting a story that just pulls you in and you feel like you can see and indentify with the characters. I typically buy audio books to listen to while I work at my desk job all day- but, with this book, I listened during lunch and while driving, walking, etc. I just had to know what would be revealed next.

I am now moving on to by Sharp Objects. If it is anything like the other two Gillian Flynn books, I will not be disappointed!

I am struggling to find the right words to review this audiobook. The author took an interesting plot idea and turned it into a really sad look at Stockholm Syndrome. Sleeping Beauty isn't swept off her feet, she's kidnapped, abused and downright pitiful. But, I......guess...........she.........kind.......of ..........likes it? I'm all for getting down and dirty and being rough around all kinds of edges, but this was beyond that. I tried- I really did. I wanted to like it, but it just made me feel really weird. And, not in a good way.
