Who was your favorite character and why?

The fellowship that Patrice had with his peers really comes out and the feelings you get from all the comedians that are included in this series really hits home. The feeling of loss for someone you have listened too and even agreed with, has a lingering effect.

    Any additional comments?

Buy this series - tell your friends to buy it. It is one of the better tributes to an artist that I have heard.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Excellent story with hilarious characters that have rich points of view. The concept is original and refreshing for the genre. Atticus is a very good main character that has a very focused 'now' point of view. This makes his approach to life very interesting. And his little dog too, great comedic relief I recommend this series to anyone with even a passing interest in this genre.
    Cheers.

For nearly 2,000 years, only one Druid has walked the Earth - Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’ apprentice, Granuaile, is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.

As I said above. The series just gets better (overall) with the ArchDruid playing more than a secondary role. Fierce druid is much stronger in this novel than previous.
And I must say I snift and maybe sniffled once or twice at her saying good bye to her mother and finally letting go of her old life.

Well crafted story and the overall arc continues on with great twists in the landscape.

And the narrator is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

I read some reviews about this book and I must say I disagree with the anti religious aspect of the reviews.

I found it more plausible that the view points from the characters - very in character for their specific reactions to the situations encountered.

Excellent over all story arc that brings in past books very nicely and the tech geek in me wants that bloody camera. If only to take pictures :-))

Hugo Award-winning author Charles Stross is renowned for his cutting-edge science fiction. This third entry in his “edgy … spoof of Cold War spy thrillers” (Booklist) finds covert agent Bob Howard learning about a top-secret dossier that vanishes with his boss. Determined to discover the contents of this memorandum, Howard runs afoul of Russian spies, ancient demons, and apostles of a hideous cult planning to raise the Eater of Souls from the undead.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treaty when suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II. With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt.

This is a good series that deals with a new idea in the realm of fantasy, in the fact that what you can think of is what you can create. The story is good, Modesitt has always been able to keep my attention with his books in the past. The narrator is good as well with several different inflections in tone and moderation to give life to the characters in the story.

Overall I well keep this one on my ipad for a another listen in the future.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I was unsure what to expect from this audiobook. After reading some of the other reviews I decided it was worth a try. What an unexpected suprise. It's probably one of the best books I've read or listened to in years. I was sad for it to end. Heartwarming & funny.
