I ran out of Nora Roberts books and only just now discovered Krentz. I really have enjoyed the 3 books I have listened to thus far. I am happy to have found these!

It is the summer of 1950 and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia's family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath. For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw.

Crawford Hunt wants his daughter back. Following the death of his wife four years ago, Crawford, a Texas Ranger, fell into a downward spiral that left him relegated to deskwork and with his five-year-old daughter, Georgia, in the custody of her grandparents. But Crawford has cleaned up his act and met all the court-imposed requirements, and now the fate of his family lies with Judge Holly Spencer.

It is quite unusual to have a male lead in a romantic suspense novel, with a secondary female. It works well though. I like Crawford just fine. The relationship with his daughter is very touching. I would buy a sequel if one comes out. The story is tense and interesting. The narrator did a good job; his voice for the main character reminds me of the voice for Walt Longmre in that series.

Leaving one widow behind is unfortunate. Leaving three widows behind is just plain despicable. Oil heiress Kate Steele knew her not-so-dearly departed husband was a con man, but she's shocked that Conrad racked up two more wives without divorcing her first. The only remnant of their miserable marriage she plans to keep is their lakeside cabin in Bootleg, Texas. Unfortunately, she's not the only woman with that idea.

Ms. Brown is a new favorite and this was delightful. It is an old-fashioned romantic story of three woman who hate each other but things change.... Just give it a listen.

I thoroughly enjoyed this bizarre, dual story of a suspense writer composing a novel about a wronged wife. Neither woman is at all likeable but neither are the men. I hoped they would all meet bad ends. It was a dark, well-written book. Surely there will be a movie!

Nestled in the shadow of the Appalachians is where Gwen Ashby stumbles upon the William Marshall Academy, and she's given a trial position as a literature teacher. The gothic boarding school seems trapped in time, yet it feels like home the moment Gwen arrives. She's charmed by the lovely buildings, bewitched by the eager students...and utterly seduced by the headmaster. Edwin Yorke is noble, handsome, and infuriatingly proper. But his tweedy exterior and courtly manners conceal a raw, sensual power.

The main character never grew on me. Her bluntness and arrogance were off-putting. I wonder if it is the sharp way the narrator chose to speak her parts. Anyway, just no.

Zoe is an interior designer with a unique sense of style. But even more uncanny is her sense of what's going on under the surface, the secrets a house can hold. At the moment, though, Zoe isn't concerned about a client's space. She's more worried about what's going on in her own house in Whispering Springs, Arizona, where she lives with her new husband, private investigator Ethan Truax.

Why are there only 2 books in this richly layered series? I liked both books much and felt there was so much material for another book. Two lead characters who always need to worry about money-very unusual in this genre. It helps make them more relatable. They are funny, full of angst, clever, compassionate, etc. Really enjoyed both books.

It's been thirteen years since Lucy Sheridan was in Summer River. The last time she visited her aunt Sara there, as a teenager, she'd been sent home suddenly after being dragged out of a wild party - by the guy she had a crush on, just to make it more embarrassing.

I read the reviews but decided to give the book 30 minutes before deciding if it was worth it. Since it was in my Romance package, no big expense. I have listened to audio books for 30 years and this narration style is old school but that is fine. There is no big distinctions between characters but it did not bother me. And the lead male character does get a bit deeper voice after the first scenes, when he is older. The book was interesting as a mystery and I liked it.
