In this compelling and helpful book pastor and author Andy Stanley wrestles with what he calls"four invaders of the heart": guilt, anger, greed, and jealousy. One or another of these caustic emotions sabotages lives on a daily basis and destroys relationships. But Stanley assures listeners that there is hope. In his trademark style - smart, engaging, and popular - he examines where these powerful forces come from and reveals effective strategies for overcoming them.

Andy Stanley frankly addresses fear, jealousy, anger & greed in the context of how these issues of the heart impact our daily life & reactions to both inconsequential & crisis situations.
It IS challenging - it is a mirror - but very worthwhile & loaded with authenticity - a hallmark of Andy Stanley's ministry. I am now on my 3rd listening of this recording. excellent stuff.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV to be better than the print version?

NO - any dramatized version is subject to the particular preferences of the listener & for me it seemed 'put on' and didn't flow as natural 'storytelling' or conversation might. It is JUST a personal opinion though - you may love it.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

see above - 'god' was a bit dodgy!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    no

    Any additional comments?

I am now back at Audible seeking a different version - preferably one where I can select by the book - rather than a track that may have any number of books in it.

Historic Prince Edward Island in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence is the scene of this charming romance, which has captivated generations of readers young and old. Anne, the orphan child who brings happiness and love into the lives of her foster parents, is one of the most beloved heroines in all literature. But life was not kind to her at the start of her great adventure. For when Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, living alone, decided to adopt a child from the local orphanage, they asked for a boy.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have been an 'Anne' fan since childhood & shared the books with my own daughters throughout their childhood. It was only natural that I would pass it on to the next generation of my grand daughters. Being the ipod generation - of course it was from Audible.....we love this story - but NOT this version. Apart from the odd narration mistakes - I just can't listen to this voice again.

What didn’t you like about Susan O'Malley’s performance?

I bought it as an audio book, some time ago, however I just can't stand it being on, even in the background. I have deleted it from my library & itunes.... it's such a whinney, monotoned natarration, that I have rebought the book, looking for something nicer to listen to.

In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Such a thought provoking book - I will be listening to this over several times. Highly Recommended to anyone interested in 'group' growth & group dynamics.

Getting rich is just one of Jeremy James' problems. That's when he's not making trouble for Daddy's car, Santa Claus's beard and the vicar's sore bottom! And trouble has a habit of getting even - with toothache and a ghost in the bedroom, not to mention spoilt Timothy who wins all the prizes.

Is goodness not rewarded, then? Is Christianity not fair? Maybe not, he says. Readers will find out why Jesus taught that goodness is not even a requirement to enter heaven - and why Christianity is beyond fair. Andy Stanley leads believers and skeptics alike to a grateful awareness of God's enormous grace and mercy.

I found that the author took a long time to get to his point. BUT, that's what some people need. To be absolutely, totally, utterly convinced, there is NOTHING you can do is good enough, and no matter how bad you have been, it's not bad enough. Grace is the only thing that saves us. Great outreach tool.

Tribes are groups of people aligned around an idea, connected to a leader and to each other. Tribes make our world work, and always have. The new opportunity is that it's easier than ever to find, organize, and lead a tribe. The Web has enabled an explosion of all kinds of tribes - and created shortage of people to lead them. This is the growth industry of our time. Tribes will help you understand exactly what's at stake, and why YOU can and should lead a tribe of your own.

Each week thousands of Christians will sing "Amazing Grace" at church, paying lip service to one of the most phenomenal aspects of Christianity, yet walking away untouched by its magnitude. They pay mental assent to the concept, but their hearts are untouched. Breathing Grace is a unique look at a topic that stands at the very core of the Christian faith.

I laboured through the first chapter of this book, thinking,
    'Give it a chance',
    endured the second chapter, thinking,
    'It'll get better'
by half way through the forth chapter - I turned it off - too much hospital/medical talk (obviously what the author really knows about) and not enough about grace. Have deleted from my ipod.
