Love my audiobooks. My favorite times to listen: when in LA traffic, when working out, and when with tedious friends.

The prolific, perennially best selling author recounts his early life and writing struggles, gives advice on the crucial aspects of the writing art, and talks about his much-publicized, near-fatal accident.

This is the best kind of audiobook. Read by the author, great story, insightful, and playful. And, of course, dark at times - come on, it's Steven King! Best quote: “Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around."The part about his intervention is incredibly moving. Steven King's life is an incredible gift he's given the world.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Wonderful story. Great narrating. Definitely listen to it or read it before you see the movie. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Bilbo Baggins, a gentle hobbit who loves the comforts of home, reluctantly joins a company of dwarves on a journey to recover plundered gold from a fierce dragon. It's a tale of high adventure and astonishing courage, and a magical prelude to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    I LOVE this story.

However, the "dramatized" part of this audiobook gets difficult to understand at some points. I think my imagination does the best job of "hearing" the sounds and creating the characters. When they put on a goofy voice and add some mood music and sound effects behind it, I get sort of distracted and slightly annoyed. But if that doesn't bother you this is a GREAT recording. Give it a test run.

I'll probably wait till they have all the undramatized versions out before I finish the series. Or I'll do it the old fashion way with a good ole paperback!

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Lisa says: "If you like Mindy, you'll enjoy this listen."

Where does Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I said it with Tina Fey's book and I'm happily saying it again: I love listening to books read by the author! Mindy Kaling's literary voice is so badass (her actual voice is wicked-sweet too). I loved and learned from every bit of this book from reading about her body and boy concerns to her ambitions, successes, and failures. In this book, Mindy Kaling is a mentor and a friend to all. Seriously, this is a great book for teenage girls, twenty-something girls, thirty, forty, old grandmas, effeminate men, men wanting to understand what girls are concerned about, teenage boys wanting a leg up on the competition, everyone. I highly recommend it.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

First off, I love listening to books read by the author. And this one was throughly entertaining and enlightening. It made me - a sheltered good-girl - feel validated and way less lame. I'm inspired to follow my ambitious heart. Thanks for the awesomeness Tina Fey.
