Anne Lamott is known for her perceptive and funny writings about spirituality. Listeners of all ages have followed her faith journey through decades of trial and error (sometimes more error than Annie wanted), and in her new book, she has coalesced all she knows about prayer to three essentials: Help, Thanks, and Wow. It is these three prayers - asking for assistance from a higher power, appreciating all that we have and all that is good, and feeling awe at the beauty of the world around us - that can get us through the day and can show us the way forward.

Short and excellent - a great listen with the author's dry and unfettered delivery. I wonder if Anne Lamott and Patti Smith are friends . . . they should be! The beauty of the brevity here is that I will re-listen to this book and get more from it. Anne may come from a Christian background, but her content reaches across all defined/undefined belief systems. Enjoy!

In her midforties and settled into the responsibilities and routines of adulthood, Dani Shapiro found herself with more questions than answers. Was this all life was - a hodgepodge of errands, dinner dates, e-mails, meetings, to-do lists? What did it all mean? Having grown up in a deeply religious and traditional family, Shapiro had no personal sense of faith, despite repeated attempts to create a connection to something greater.

Wow . . . I don't know how I stumbled onto this but sure glad I did. The author's POV and experiences resonated with me. This is not "easy" content . . . it is contemplative and honest and it hit home deep within me. Thank you, Dani.

Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Rob Lowe's life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Wonderful recollections and musings from this child of the 80s (like me). I am so glad I purchased the audiobook because Rob's narration is EXCELLENT - - warm and engaging. Thoroughly enjoyed having Rob with me during my work commute! Thanks, Rob!

Victor Hugo's tale of injustice, heroism and love follows the fortunes of Jean Valjean, an escaped convict determined to put his criminal past behind him. But his attempts to become a respected member of the community are constantly put under threat: by his own conscience, when, owing to a case of mistaken identity, another man is arrested in his place; and by the relentless investigations of the dogged policeman Javert.

I have no experience with Les Mis and wanted to know the basic story. This abridged version was perfect for the purpose. At 2.5 hours, it was a quick run through the highlights. The performance is excellent and much is spoken from the characters' POV. I realize this was like the Cliff Notes for a much more complex work, but that is what I wanted. I was able to listen to the entire book during a 3 hour plane flight. The performance is stellar.
