"Wow!!"
I would probably be classified as a liberal (what's up with these labels anyway). I really wanted to understand the mindset of an African American 'Ultraconservative' being African American myself and somewhat successful. Well, I have come to the conclusion that the end result is determined by the journey - and what a journey it was for Justice Thomas. He has a place reserved on my study wall right next to Truman, Obama, Einstein and yes Malcolm x.
"Not Bad"
I listened to this book based on a review that rated it as 'Almost Excellen't. Well from my perspective it was a three star.
The story starts out really well but there were some aspects of the story that I wish the writer had spent more time developing - these aspects leaned more towards the scifi/fantasy bend of the story. I listened to the entire audio hoping that this would happen but it didn't.
This book was very hard for me to rate. It held my attention for 40 hours but there are so many unanswered question.
"I didn't expect for it to be this good......"
14 will definitely keep you interested. I have found a new writer and narrator too search for and if their other works are as good as this, I'm in for a treat.
"Very Informative"
The roots of the hyperpartisanism were clearly explained - at least this authors hypothesis. What was really interesting are the games that politicians play to get what THEY want and there are times that what they want is not in alignment with what is best for their constituents.
I was of the belief that the present lack of bipartisan cooperation was due to Obama being an African American (and I do believe that plays a big part especially in the minds of some very vocal voters) but I have come to realize that there are bigger issues at play.
"Somewhat Different"
The narrator is PHENOMENAL. The story is not typical King but it's pretty good. There were parts that seemed to drag-on but I didn't stop listening. The listening experience was strange in that way. Some books are so good that I would listen to them again if given the opportunity but this is not one of those.
"Phenomenal"
The story is excellent. There are several characters that are well developed and transitions from one subplot to another is extremely clear. The story is told from the point of view of several people and each tale is extremely captivating. David Ball is an excellent writer and George Guidall...... well, you can't go wrong listening to ANYTHING that he reads.
"Alternate History????"
Initially, I thought that the idea of 'Alternate History's' was kind of crazy. But, after listening to this book, I have found the genre very interesting. The narrator is top-notch and the story line is captivating. I have found myself actually searching for more audios of this type.
