"Disappointing"
I have been a Harlan Coben fan and have listened to most all of his earlier works, he was not up to his usual standards in this book. Although the ending was pretty good the plot line was thin, the story didn't hang together and the reader ran one conversation into another without a pause so sometimes you didn't know who was speaking.
Reader's voice was rather flat and ran conversations together. No pauses to change scenarios.
"Ho-hum medical novel"
Although I like the author on CNN, his charisma does not translate onto the pages. The story was ho-hum, not much of a plot line and he wrapped it all up too quickly - like he was tired of writing this book and wanted to get it over with. Characters were not compelling and nothing much to keep you motivated to listen longer or wish for another novel.
NO - but would not get another book from this author. Robin Cook or Michael Crichton were far better medical writers.

"Inane"
12 chapters into this book - I quit. It is stupid, has little plot and just doesn't hold my interest at all. The reader is very good, doing a lot of voices but the story isn't worth my time listening to it. I have never written a negative review before but after I saw the author on the Today show I felt I had to listen to it. Major disappointment - was looking for a good mystery or crime story but this was more about Lula eating and Plums' boyfriends and their sexual exploits than anything else.
