After many years of developing and harnessing her language-teaching skills with The French Ecole, Alexa has now created an audio treat for people who wish to learn a new language from scratch, without any pressure, in fun, relaxed, and manageable chunks. Highlights of Lesson 1 include: an introduction to the class format and some basic vocabulary; how to say how you are and where you live; talking about the weather; a small quiz; and a French song.

For the price - you can't beat this brief first lesson. The speaker is clear and articulate and explains the words well. The only recommendation I have is to allow a longer pause or space so one can practice the words. Overall, I enjoyed and will look into other lessons.

The unique life story of one of the most talented and inventive comedians, star of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Star Trek. Zombies in North London, death cults in the West Country, the engineering deck of the Enterprise: actor, comedian, writer and self-proclaimed supergeek Simon Pegg has been ploughing some bizarre furrows in recent times.

I enjoyed Simon's autobiography - but I also enjoyed his short story. I love his imagination and creative flair, but he is down to earth and funny. Didn't realize that this was abridged version - so somewhat disappointed by that.

When you have a stressful job and just want a book to relax to - then this would be a good book for you. Yes, it is a children's book. However, it is enjoyable, and funny, and has some very interesting characters. It is not too complicated, it helps to zone out after work in the car on the way home. Some great quotes too.

In Such a Pretty Fat, Jen Lancaster learned how to come to terms with her body. In My Fair Lazy, she expanded her mind. Now, the New York Times best-selling author gives herself - and her generation - a kick in the X, by facing her greatest challenge to date: acting her age. Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life insurance-having adult she's become.

After reading YA and other items, this was the perfect "adult" book to get me back into more grown-up themes. The book was funny but truthful at the same time.

I would describe this book as "old-fashioned." It was okay, and pleasant to read, but not griping. It made me smile in a couple of spots, and I think the narrator did a good job.

Set over the course of one school year, in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love - and just how hard it pulled you under.

I liked this book -- may be closer to 3.5 stars. I think the author did a good job capturing the feelings of teenagers. However, I think I am burnt out on YA books - and need something more adult to read. Good book - would recommend.

Candide and his tutor Pangloss travel the globe trying to follow the philosophy "All is for the best in this, the best of all possible worlds". However, they are stung and let down at every turn, being robbed, tortured, and ridiculed, amongst other trials. On hearing about their often disasterous travels, a listener feels unfortunately less than empathetic, and can't help themselves laughing out loud at this very funny account of the trail our optimistic travellers take.

I read this many years ago for school. Since I knew the basic story line - I was not as engaged as other books I have read. This is probably one I would go back to from time to time. It keeps me grounded -- since at one point in my life, I thought I lived in the "Best of All Possible Worlds."
