After many years of developing and harnessing her language-teaching skills with The French Ecole, Alexa has now created an audio treat for people who wish to learn a new language from scratch, without any pressure, in fun, relaxed, and manageable chunks. Highlights of Lesson 1 include: an introduction to the class format and some basic vocabulary; how to say how you are and where you live; talking about the weather; a small quiz; and a French song.

For the price - you can't beat this brief first lesson. The speaker is clear and articulate and explains the words well. The only recommendation I have is to allow a longer pause or space so one can practice the words. Overall, I enjoyed and will look into other lessons.

An airliner’s controls abruptly fail mid-flight over the Atlantic. An oil tanker runs aground in Japan when its navigational system suddenly stops dead. Hospitals everywhere have to abandon their computer databases when patients die after being administered incorrect dosages of their medicine. In the Midwest, a nuclear power plant nearly becomes the next Chernobyl when its cooling systems malfunction. At first, these random computer failures seem like unrelated events.

Good technical thriller. I believe this book had the right amount of technical jargon and explanation. Pretty good. I am not sure what I was looking for with this book - but not bad.

For narration -- almost perfect French annunciation. Almost comical Russian accent -- especially female Russian accent (narrator is a male.)

"Life changes fast....You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends." These were among the first words Joan Didion wrote in January 2004. Her daughter was lying unconscious in an intensive care unit, a victim of pneumonia and septic shock. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, was dead. The night before New Year's Eve, while they were sitting down to dinner, he suffered a massive and fatal coronary. The two had lived and worked side by side for nearly 40 years.

Not sure what was so magical about this book.

I felt very depressed reading this book. I too have grieved like the author. However, not sure if she was sharing her grieving process, or expressing how wonderful her life was and their elaborate lifestyle.
    I was not impressed.

It seems like the characters could be your neighbor or your friend. I liked this book for something that was easy and not complicated. Light reading for the summer, but would be good to curl up by a fire in the winter. There are more books in the Elm Creek Quilt series, and I will pick up another one or two to relax with in the future.

The unique life story of one of the most talented and inventive comedians, star of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Star Trek. Zombies in North London, death cults in the West Country, the engineering deck of the Enterprise: actor, comedian, writer and self-proclaimed supergeek Simon Pegg has been ploughing some bizarre furrows in recent times.

However, it is enjoyable, and funny, and has some very interesting characters. It is not too complicated, it helps to zone out after work in the car on the way home. Some great quotes too.

Now, the New York Times best-selling author gives herself - and her generation - a kick in the X, by facing her greatest challenge to date: acting her age. Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life insurance-having adult she's become.

Set over the course of one school year, in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love - and just how hard it pulled you under.
