This book was a severe disappointment. I'd heard great things about it from many people, however when I read it, it didn't tell me anything new. Of course you "attract" like people and situations to you. Ordinary people have known that for thousands of years. If you have to listen to this book listen to about the 1st hour, after that it just repeats itself. No new insights are gained.
On a positive note, the presentation of this book is amazing. The music is very nice and it does start out making you feel like this is going to give you the ultimate key to happiness. Ultimately, it does not.
I absolutely enjoyed this book, when I would stop listening I couldn't wait until I started again. He has some very interesting theories and facts that are presented in an enjoyable educational way. Although some of the theories presented I don't agree with, he does list some important things to think about. If you are fascinated by culture, and want to understand the history of humans this is a good place to start.
I am a huge Micheal Crichton fan, his books have always been able to juggle science and fiction together seamlessly. However "Next" is a bit of a let down. I loved some of the individual story lines, others I didn't care for. Some just didn't have a resolution. I didn't know anything about this book or its subject when I began and I still feel I don't know a lot.
"State of Fear" was a great book as it provided true and accurate facts and an easily presentable way. Maybe genetics is difficult to explain to the average person, like myself. So unless you are extremely interested or knowledgeable about genetics you may not find this to be his best work.
