I love historical novels and Ariana Franklin gives us the woman's pov of events. Not only do I get a good read but i am always learning something new. Jill Tanner is a strong reader and helps support the story. Without giving anything away, I can't wait to read the next installment.

Lady Georgiana Rannoch has once again been called into service by Her Majesty the Queen. This time she's sent to Nice on a secret assignment that's nothing to sneeze at: recover the Queen's stolen snuff box. As much of an honor as it is to be trusted by Her Majesty, an even greater honor awaits Georgie in Nice - as Coco Chanel herself asks Georgie to model her latest fashion. But when a necklace belonging to the Queen is stolen on the catwalk, Georgie has to find two priceless items-and solve a murder. How's a girl to find any time to go to the casino?

I thoroughly enjoy this series. It gives me a taste of British history and the pretentiousness of the aristocracy.. Lady Georgiana is so likable. I would enjoy being her friend. Then there is Darcy, her love interest although his part in this book is rather small but nonetheless significant. The setting here is the French Rivera and several famous historic characters make an appearance. As always there is murder and intrigue which unfolds nicely and is quite believable. No review would be complete without complimenting the narration which truly adds to the experience. I highly recommend the series and this book..

This was just such a fun story. I hadn't been sure what to expect. This was so much better than I anticipated. I won't say that it is the best mystery storyline but it is entertaining and the performance kept me going as well. For a good, light quick listen. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to the second in the series.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

i realy enjoyed this book and the performances really brought it to life. The story within a story was nicely interwoven. The discriptions of the landscape and the palace truly helped me to feel I was there. The historic storyline was interesting as it related to the characters so it was not just a bunch of cold facts. And, the romance pulled at my heart strings. Yes, there was a bit of fantasy thrown in but again it did not detract for me.

So I heartly recommend this book and will look for others from this author.

The award-winning author returns to Samaria in this richly romantic tale that begins where Archangel left off. In that time, the women who craved the attention of angels were known as angel-seekers, a term used with awe by some - and scorn by others.

This is a good addition to the series. Not only did I enjoy the love story but I really was drawn to the narrating for the lead female. It put a smile on my face and made my day. I couldn't wait to hear her again. This is more of a romance than fantasy however it is worth the read. I wonder if we will hear from these characters in the next book in the series.

I ws so disappointed in this book. I am a fan of the series and was looking forward to this book which i had somehow missed. Sorry I found it. More time spent describing the moore then developing the storyline. I stopped at about chapter 10 when i just didn't think it was ever going to get better. Read others and skip this one.

Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon at a mission hospital in Addis Ababa. Orphaned by their mother's death in childbirth and their father's disappearance, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Yet it will be love, not politics - their passion for the same woman - that will tear them apart.

This is a must read. I was truly pleased with this choice. The story introduces the reader to many exotic locales bringing them and the people who occupy the landscape to life. Characters are well developed and one comes to care about them. Mystery, love, struggle, family friction - it's all here. And the reader is perfect for this book. He brings you in and holds you. If I had a criticism, it would be that some of the medical descriptions were more than I thought was needed but it never detracted from the many positive aspects of this novel.

    Story

If you love stories with historic settings this one pleases. The story depicts life for the Chinese in early twentieth century. It was sobering for me as I had no idea of the trials that these people faced. But this is also a touching story of relationships mother and child, sister to sister, husbands and wives. It is easy to listen to and held my attention all the way.
