It wasn't the best thing I've ever listen to, but I enjoyed it. It is a very quick listen and if you are in between epic series or looking for something quick just to clean the fiction palette, then this is an excellent choice.
These two books have already put this series in my top three with Song of Fire and Ice and Harry Potter. It is like either of these, but it entertains as well if not better. Rothfuss is a master of his art and takes language and story telling to a new level. Simply brilliant and almost beyond words!
I am not a King fan, but this short story is awesome. I am a huge fan of the movie and will watch it over and over again. Likewise, I am now a huge fan of the story and the narration and will listen to it over and over again. For the amount of enjoyment compared to the cost, it is one of the best purchases on audible.
As a huge Sci-Fi/Fantasy series consumer, I have to say that the epic scope and character development in the Song of Fire and Ice series is with out match. I have yet to meet anyone who has read these books and failed to enjoy them. Even fans of the HBO series will gain insight and enjoyment from also reading the books. There is a lot of character development and story line that simply can't be included into a TV series. The books will increase your enjoyment of the show. If you haven't yet, you must listen to these books.
I listen to this after having listened to the Talent Code. This book changed my life. As a formally very fix-minded person, I have completely changed my view and have experienced a lot of success by doing so. I am now firmly growth-minded and I preach growth-mindedness wherever I go. If you want to maximize you personal potential and that of the people around you, then read this book. Also an excellent read for both parents and teachers. We must change the way we communicate with children.
My first foray into historical fiction. As I was flying to Chicago I listened to this book. It was brilliant. I eventually annoyed everybody discussing the many facts I discovered about Chicago's World's Fair. But the listen was beautifully narrated and was extremely entertaining. A great read! You won't be disappointed.
I have had dogs my whole life. My family bred, raised, and showed dogs for competition and I thought I knew just about everything about raising a dog. Having read this book I realized how much I still needed to learn. My wife and I rescued an emotional troubled dog, but I read this book (twice) and use the techniques to train our dog. She is now universally loved by everyone who meets her and will sit, lie down, bark, and high-five on command. She is great with children and we couldn't imagine life without her. If you are getting a dog, READ THIS BOOK, before you buy your dog, and then again when you train your dog, and you will develop a happy and healthy relationship with your dog too.
David Sedaris is one of the funniest writers of our time. I laughed out loud many times during this book and revisit it often for a pick-me-up. If you don't like Sedaris, you won't like this. If you like Sedaris, you will love this book.
One of the greatest books I have read or to which I have listened. Many will criticize the the troubling nature of the narration and plot, but the ability to evoke such pity and revulsion at the same time is a credit to Nabokov's writing and Irons' performance. Rare is a work as engrossing and powerful as this while also troubling, thought provoking, and emotionally riveting. If you haven't yet read or listen to this book, do so today.
As the title indicates, I am not a Stephen King fan, but I really enjoyed this book. I found the historical work mixed with King's edging Fantasy/Horror twist to be extremely engaging. It helps that I am interested in the both time travel and the Kennedy assassination. I am also a sucker for a good (not too mushy) love story. Despite enjoying very few of King's works, I really liked this book and wanted to suggest it to those of you who don't traditionally like King.
