This is one of my favorite books. If you've only seen the movie, the book is just as good and much more complex. It is entertaining enough for children yet intelligent enough for adults.

If you've read/listened to D.W.J's Chrestomanci books, this is a slightly different type of fantasy and takes place in a fairy tale world.

Sophie is the oldest of 3 sisters and therefore, of course, destined to be the least successful. She submits quietly to this fate until the day her life takes an unexpected turn. Freed from expectation, she discovers just what she is capable of and "finds her fortune".

If only the narration were as good. I own another book read by the same narrator and liked it just fine. Her voices for this book, however, were a bit irritating and detracted somewhat from my enjoyment of the story. It won't keep me from listening to this book again, though.

I have been waiting for the Mrs. Pollifax books narrated by Barbara Rosenblat since I became an Audible member. I am crossing my fingers and hoping they get the rest of them.

I really enjoy the way Ms. Rosenblat handles all the different accents these books require. Having heard her versions first, I just can't get into those read by different narrators.

If you aren't familiar with Mrs. P, she is a grandmother who ends up working for the CIA and traveling the world making friends while confronting the bad guys with wit and aplomb. These books are sort of "cozy" espionage tales with plenty of excitement & adventure but definitely character based.

This one is #5, but you don't really have to have read the previous ones to be able to get into this one. It is one of my favorites.

If you come to this book expecting what you have read in other Brandon Sanderson books, you may be disappointed. If you come expecting a very funny example of "lampshading," you'll should be quite satisfied. Lampshading is the act of shining a light on the customs and tropes of literature and media (think Galaxy Quest).

This is the first of what is expected to be a 5 book series. So far, three of the books are available in print but only this one is out in an audio version.

First of all let me say that I am a fan of Tamora Pierce and own the audio versions of 9 of her books. I am also a big fan of Full Cast Audio and have purchased many of their books by other authors as well. That said, I have never bothered to listen to this one a second time.

Although Full Cast Audio did a wonderful job, the story just didn't grab me. I found many of the elements to be less interesting versions of things she had already done in other books. I also didn't find Evvy to be a very enjoyable protagonist.

But I know that everyone's tastes are different. If you are a big fan of Tamora Pierce, I'd recommend reading the print version first, to see if this is something you like, before spending your credit.

All in all, I'd much rather listen to any of the original Circle of Magic books or to Street Magic (the first story of Rosethorn, Briar, and Evvy and a great book) instead.

Having purchased Wild Magic, the first book in Pierce's Daine trilogy, I have been waiting a long time for this one. (They say that Emperor Mage, number 3, should be available around November.)

This is one of those books that I liked even better as an audiobook - Full Cast Audio did their usual excellent job.

As a fan of Heinlein's "Juveniles" I particularly enjoyed this book - it's one of my favorites.

It is one of his space ship stories (rather than being planet based). If you are a fellow fan, then you should enjoy this book too.

If you're not a big fan, then you need to know that it does have his usual level of meticulous and copious scientific and mathematic detail, which may annoy some. It also has one of his willful female characters whom I, as a woman, found mildly irritating.

The narrator is adequate. I didn't find that he either improved or detracted from the story. Those who are very sensitive to the narrator should definitely listen to the whole sample before deciding.

I really like all three of the Gregor books that are out so far. I thought it was a trilogy though and now I have to wait for the last two books (I hate that). The stories are good and so is the narrator. What I really like though is that, despite all their troubles, this is a story of a loving and mostly functional family, which is unusual in this type of fantasy fiction.

This is the 3rd of 4 Cirle of Magic Books. You should definately listen to them in order. (The previous two books, Sandry's Book and Tris's Book are both available on Audible.) I loved the books (which I own), yet the audio versions are so good that I haven't read the books since I first listened to them. This one has much more information about the Trader culture and customs, which is very interesting. It also has a good lesson on how refusing to let anyone help you doesn?t make you strong. But mostly, it's just a lot of fun.

This is the 2nd book in the Circle of Magic quartet and picks up just days after the 1st book (Sandry's Book - also available on Audible) left off. I recommend that you listen to the books in order as there is a natural progression in the relationships and plots in the stories. My whole family, girls and boys/kids and adults, like these books and Full Cast Audio makes them very fun to listen to.

I am not generally a fan of either English humor or of farces, but I have to admit that I really like this audiobook. I got it free when I joined Audible, and I have already listened to it several times.
