A Signature Performance: Oscar nominee and passionate vegan Casey Affleck highlights the more-relevant-than-ever issues of business ethics and food production in Upton Sinclair’s meatpacking industry bombshell.

Kamigaeru says: "Caveat emptor: Powerful book, subpar narration"
"Great book, poor choice for narrator."
    Overall

I was so excited to see this classic offered on Audible; however, that was short lived as I started listening to it. Mr. Affleck comes across as an old man in pain and makes it very difficult to listen. At least he does a great job with the wide variety of ethic names though.

Ancient Egypt. Land of the Pharaohs. A kingdom built on gold. A legend shattered by greed. Now the Valley of Kings lies ravaged by war, drained of its lifeblood, as weak men inherit the cherished crown. On the eve of the festival of Osiris, the loyal subjects of the Pharaoh gather in Thebes to pay tribute to their leader.

Exploding with all the passion and rage of a bygone time, River God is a masterpiece of historical writing.

a very good story that is read by a FANTASTIC narrator. The book is full of colorful cast of characters, suspense and humor, but the Dick Hill's voice brings the story alive! I couldn't stop listening once I started.

One by one, children of New York's wealthiest are taken hostage. But the criminal doesn't crave money or power--he only wants to ask the elite if they know the price others pay for their luxurious lifestyles. And, if they don't, he corrects their ignorance - by killing them.

"was ok, but not a page turner"

this is my first book in this series and not sure I'll get another. storyline has potential and started off great out of the gate, but became too erratic and disappointing by the end. Big fan of other Patterson stories, but this one was mediocre.

  • Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

Why we think it’s a great listen: Want to join the “superhumans”? Luckily you don’t have to run to catch up with them, thanks to McDougall’s and Sanders’ inspiring (and motivating) journey through history, science, physiology, health, entertaining characters and unlikely friendships. Full of incredible characters, amazing athletic achievements, cutting-edge science, and, most of all, pure inspiration, Born to Run is an epic adventure.

Corey says: "Amazing read - even for non-runners"
    "Must read"
    Overall

WOW! What a wonderful book that is part biography as well as incredible history lesson of man and how/why we are born to run.
