"Boring!"
I was bored almost to sleeping when listening to this book. I bought it because I saw that it was read by Tim Curry and even the awesome Mr. Curry seemed bored while reading. The reason I gave it all 2 stars is because the book is a classic and should be recognized.
"Well, that was surprising..."
...surprisingly good that is! I have been putting this book off for months. One day, when I had no other book to read/listen, I decided it was finally time; I pressed 'play'.
SURPRISE! I was quickly transported to the seedy world of Ashland and I didn't want to come back. Gin, Finn, and yes, even the brooding Donovan Caine kept me locked in this universe of vampire hookers, giant cops, dwarfs and elementals. I can't wait to start the next book in the series!!
"Fallen in LOVE"
What more can I say, I have fallen in love with this book! You have a main character that is both a genius and an idiot, how can you not like that? Kvothe amazes me with his intellect and his actions...they just don't seem to coincide at times.
I can't wait to read Day 2!
"Wonderful!"
I enjoyed just about every moment of the book! It painted a very clear picture in my mind as I listened and because of this, it was hard to turn it off at times. If you haven't, I HIGHLY recommend having a listen.
"Interesting..."
Hmm...I don't know what to say. As for the ending of a pretty cool series goes, this one felt really rushed. It was as if Garth got tired of writing in this universe and just wanted it to be over and done with as soon as possible.
All in all, it was an ok ending and an ok book. I think I just expected more. I mean, when the poop hits the fan, you don't expect things to be quickly cleaned up. You want some wallowing in the muck as things, some casting blame on others, bitter fights, drama, all before things are figured out and cleaned up. Instead, I felt as if he swept it all up under a rug and said "There, I finished it. All is well." as he tries to smile convincingly and hopes nobody notices the smell.
Overall, I'm left underwhelmed, yet satisfied (just barely).
That is all :)
"HATED IT!!!"
I'm SO mad >X This book was a complete waste of my money (I actually paid the full amount for it). I couldn't even finish it I was so bored. The reader was TERRIBLE. I don't know why he decided to sound as if he was trying to seduce someone while being slightly smug and over dramatic all at the same time. The story went NOWHERE and about half way through it I was lost as to who was who and what they were doing. Speaking of who's who, I didn't even like the characters. They had NO depth to them; didn't care if they lived or died.
UGH! So mad!! Don't waste your time as I wasted mine. You have been warned.
Ok, that is all :)
"Greatness!"
What more can I say about this book! I LOVED it from start to finish. The narrator invited my imagination into this gritty universe and held it there until the very end :)
"Magical"
My childhood favorite movie was only enhanced by the reading of this book. I adored it as it took me on its magical trip.
"Dreadfully Wonderful!"
I LOVED every minute of this book! Katherine Kellgren performed it brilliantly! I couldn't have been more entertained!
