Yes- Great for a long trip in the car with kids. This is a great compromise for parents who want to listen as well. Entertaining for the whole family (ages 10+). This might be too much for anyone younger than 10, due to violence.
The first Michael Vey book is great- This series falls in a category that is hard to find. I have younger kids (10-12) and they loved the first 2 books. There is serious action, but nothing more serious than a PG-13 rating. No real language, and nothing sexual in nature. The Rick Riordan novels, or the Ranger's Apprentice series fall somewhere in the same category. Enjoyable action/adventure stories, with some violence.
Continuity is a big deal with Audiobooks. I hope he will continue reading follow-on books. Nothing worse than changing readers during a multi-book series.
Nothing that serious. There is a fair amount of humor in the face of danger, paticularly with one of the main brainiac characters who provides some comic relief.
Be sure to listen to 1st book for frame of reference. This second book isn't as good, but is still enjoyable.
I have either read or listened to many of the author's books, and would do so again. This lapse should be a wake up call.
Eva Kaminsky does a fabulous job, just as she has in the past. Conversely, if the author really wanted to head in another direction, she should not have wasted the talents of Ms. Kaminsky.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the book is directed at a younger audience, but still includes mature scenes like her previous romance books. I'm all good with her wanting to go in a different direction, but this attempt was like a Ham Sandwich, sans the Ham. The new Series looks like a carbon copy of the Sullivan minus about 10 years. So far the story and characters appear equally young and underdeveloped. I hope that Bella can get things back on track, because many of her books have been quite enjoyable.
Yes- I would like to listen again with my kids.
A great reminder of some of the highs and lows of history. Done in a way that young people could possibly understand and relate to. Light, sometimes fun, sometime serious.
I initially picked the story because I really like Becca Battoe's previous performances.
I listen to a wide variety of audiobooks, and this one stood out as a hidden gem. I would like to listen again with my kids (9 & 11).
