What made the experience of listening to The Darkest Surrender the most enjoyable?

I love the fact that Kai is a Harpee. She's another fun character.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kai is my favorite character because as stated before she is fun and her family of Harpees are fun as well.

Have you listened to any of Max Bellmore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think Mr. Bellmore is a steady for me. In each book in this series he delivers. He gives you variation with each character and thus helps you identify the characters with ease.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book did neither. I do think that the author spent a long time with history and making it vivid yet at times it just seem drawn out. But if you can get pass that you should be ok.

In this riveting landmark autobiography, which reads like a novel, Academy Award and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., masterfully transports us to 1840s New York; Washington, D.C.; and Louisiana to experience the kidnapping and 12 years of bondage of Solomon Northup, a free man of color. Twelve Years a Slave, published in 1853, was an immediate bombshell in the national debate over slavery leading up to the Civil War.

Would you try another book from Solomon Northup and/or Louis Gossett, Jr.?

I would try another book however the thing that gets me regarding this book is that it is so full of details that at times your mind will drift away from the content of the book. It's very easy to drift if you are listening to this book while driving a long distance.

What was most disappointing about Solomon Northup’s story?

I really hated that the book dragged. It kept you itching to fast forward to find out what is going to happen next because the details were so exhausting however at times you found yourself rewinding more often than not because your mind has drifted away from the narrative.

Would you be willing to try another one of Louis Gossett, Jr.’s performances?

Louis Gossett, in my opinion was only working with what he had to work with, his voice was wonderful however the story line was just so long.

What character would you cut from Twelve Years a Slave?

None they all played meaningful parts. However I would have developed the wife's role because I would have wanted to know her mindset. Her husband was missing for 12 years and I as a reader wanted to know transpired with her family life during his absence.

Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about - his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. Vin diPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that - until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking Harley-riding, self-professed savior.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I am a JR Ward fan. I loved her other books and this is my first time straying away from the Brotherhood. The Narrator is great, and I am glad that he was otherwise I would have been quick to leave this book. The story line was okay.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Jim Herron and the fact that he is an angel. Not the best angel but at times realistic enough to believe him.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

I loved Eric G. Dove's performance. He kept me enthralled in the book. I am glad it was him and not someone that would lose me in their monotone.

Do you think Covet needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It does not need a follow up. It was complete enough there was nothing left to say.

Would you listen to Wicked Nights again? Why?

Yes. I love the main character. He appeared in a previous book of Showalter. So he did not need to be developed in this book. I was so ready for him in this novel because I really wanted to see if he was going to be the same in this novel.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved seeing the vulnerability of the characters involved. I loved to see their dynamics and how they would overcome their challenges.

What does Max Bellmore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Max Bellmore, because even though he's in many of Showalter's novels I am still in awe that each character is different. He lends each character a different voice and I am able to distinguish between the characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just love Showalter so I was entertained on all levels.

Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, Carolyn is gaining an - um - intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed "dating hiatus," and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wish it did not take so long to get to the main part of the story. It just took so long to develop the characters.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I like the quirkiness of the main character. I do however love the part where the author enabled the reader/listener to be privy to each character's thoughts at one point in the story. I love things like that as oppose to having only one character sharing his/her thoughts. I do like that once the pinnacle of the novel was reached there was some development of things that transpired after the match was made.

What does Heather Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved her voice and her detail to giving each character his/her own personality

Could you see Wallbanger being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, not enough of a story line for a movie or tv series

It was immediate for Roman. In 3,000 years, he'd never lost control of his emotions, or his heart. But the moment he laid eyes on Evelynne Farrow, he knew she was the woman who haunted his dreams. And everything changed. Everything. Evie Farrow has always loved a good vampire romance. In fact, she makes a living writing them. While sitting in a coffee shop and working on her next mega-hot book, Evie is approached by a tall, dark, and handsome man who could have been pulled directly from one of her novels.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The Narrator was boring, I am not sure if he was instructed to read slow to intensify the story or if this is his normal thing. It took forever to get the story line going and then once it finally got going the story was over. Next you know epilogue.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Possession by J.R. Ward

How could the performance have been better?

Better Narrator, way better story line. This story line is an adaptation of Twilight.

What character would you cut from The Vampire King?

The warewolfs had nothing to do with this story line. Why did they waste two chapters!?!?!?

    Any additional comments?

I very seldom hate books but this book was a waste of my time!!!

What made the experience of listening to The Darkest Secret the most enjoyable?

I loved the vunerability of Amun. I really loved the fact that he's a Lord yet he is vulnerable for the first half of the book and yet he's fair and extremely patient.

What does Max Bellmore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved Max Bellmore and his narration. He brought about a great cadence. Each character had a different identity and and it was easy to identify each.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the fact the the trials that Amun and Haidee went through ended up teaching them a lesson at the very end. It also left you with a sense of suspense when you think one thing and yet the author allows you to be satiated at the very end.

    Any additional comments?

I recommend this book and I also recommend that you read these books in order.

Where does The Darkest Passion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I liked The Darkest Passion. I was surprised that this book would be interesting to me and the most thus far in the series. I really loved the narrators spin on the voice he uses with the demons in this story. I loved the author's use of the demons to bring comic relief at times and make you pay attention to them, for their characters are just as important. I loved the love play between the two main characters. I loved the dilemma.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Darkest Passion?

The love scenes and how they can never complete them like they are suppose to be completed.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Legion burst in during Aeron and Gwen's afterglow.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot at the book. It was a wonderful laugh and I listen to excerts of this book every now and then to gather tid bits when listening to other books in the series.

What made the experience of listening to The Darkest Kiss the most enjoyable?

I like the narrator he really did an excellent job with the different characters. I loved the way the author kept the storyline interesting with the different play of words and jokes. The main character Anya is fun and funny at the same time shows vunerability that is believable. The things that she has to go through to get the attention of her man is wonderful however at times it can become a little frustrating.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved both Anya and Lucien. Mainly Anya is the light weight of the story with keeping the story light when her beau Lucien is serious for the most part and she brings fun to his character.

Which character – as performed by Max Bellmore – was your favorite?

Anya mainly because she at times is a complex character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book would be for someone that wants to listen to the narrator go on and on regarding detail only because the aurthor wanted to describe how the character lathers his soap and how the big the bubbles are. This book went on and on and on about nothing. There were maybe two love scenes not thatmattered but I was like damn is he ever going to get the girl or move on. The story just has too much un-needed details.

Has Lover Enshrined turned you off from other books in this genre?

No not from this genre of book but if I had not already purchased the rest of this series I would definitely stop listening after this book. I struggled through the book prior to this one in this series with hopes that it would get better. I liked the first two books but this book and the previous one are really pushing me away. I am going to finish the series but it has to get better.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Jim Frangione?

Sure, the narrator is not the problem he's doing a good job. It's the author.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I

    Any additional comments?

I can't say enough how much this was a waste of my time. Ugh!!!!
