"The Start of a Long Journey"
This book was an amazing beginning to a long and enthralling saga. I know I could read it faster, but the narrator makes the listen SO worthwhile.
"Seriously?"
I knew this book would be a funny romp in the continued life of our favorite bounty hunter. Unfortunately, I'll have to read all about it, because after just a couple of chapters, I simply could not continue with the horrible narration. How could you take a classic series like this one and destroy the humor, the prosody, the timing? Do I sound disappointing? You bet I am. I seldom toss an audio title, even if the narration is suspect. But this one? The only direction I'll take here will be towards my Nook where I know I'll enjoy the tale. Shame on you. I paid for this title. Shame on me.
"The Narration Made It Happen"
A Discovery of Witches is a paranormal romance. It's a love story first, and a mystery after that. I listened to this book while friends read it. I enjoyed it way more than they did due to the excellent narration. I think the book could have been a bit shorter, and I think the romance was too overdone. If I hear the phrase "moi couer" one more time, I think I'll scream.
Even with those drawbacks, I enjoyed the story. I'm looking forward to the 2nd book, hoping that the same narrator does the job.
"The Narrator Messed Up The Rating"
The narrator could have used the voices she used in the previous titles.
I'm not finished with the book yet.
Boring; no change in voices.
N/A
I came to work this morning intent on doing exactly what I'm doing, only to find out that pretty much all of the reviews are about the disappointing narration. I love this series, and I love listenint to it rather than reading it mostly because of the voices. I fell in love with Roarke by
"Would marry him in a minute"
I love Nora Roberts, but resisted reading her as J. D. Robb. I decided to try this summer and got the Audible version of the first in her "In Death" series. I absolutely love the books. I think the character of Eve is real enough. Although I realize that the character of Roarke is only a dream, I pretend that he really could exist. The narration is excellent, and the narrator is one of my favorites. I'm reading them in order.

"Love Judith Light"
I don't know if I would have liked this book as much as I did without Judith Light's narration. She did a terrific job. I especially loved her "Milo." I could relate to characters and events which may have increased the enjoyment. It was a great book to listen to on my way to and from work. Not much to think about, but interesting enough to hold attention. I hope the narrator does more.
"Nora Roberts Disappoints for the First Time"
I can't remember when I thought about not finishing a Nora Roberts novel. The Search was simply not up to her standards. The characters were weak and the story line was predictable. Even the end disappointed because there was really no great confrontation. I knew exactly what was going to happen and it did...without drama or suspense. I wish I could recommend this book...but I can't.
"The Narrator Made It"
I rate GWTW in my all-time top 10, so I jumped at this one. Had the book for quite a while and didn't get to it until I did the audio this month. I actually had my school librarian read it and she said it was "okay." I'm not sure that Margaret Mitchell would have ended it this way, but it was satisfying for people who love Scarlett and Rhett, but wished for more from Scarlett and Rhett together. The narrator's voice "made" Rhett. I loved it.
I would have loved more Rhett/Scarlett scenes, but that would have made the book way to long to handle.
If you're a GWTW fan, read it.
"Did Anything Every HAPPEN?"
I'm almost finished with this listen, and still wondering when something will actually happen. I'll finish so I can answer my own question. It's a good "read." The narrator is really good. The characters are somewhat trite. It's a good no-brainer, but would be really good if there was actually some concrete conflict that could be resolved. The heroine and her father are good characters and could be expanded upon.
