Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over 10 years on the force, she's seen it all - and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

I love Nora Roberts, but resisted reading her as J. D. Robb. I decided to try this summer and got the Audible version of the first in her "In Death" series. I absolutely love the books. I think the character of Eve is real enough. Although I realize that the character of Roarke is only a dream, I pretend that he really could exist. The narration is excellent, and the narrator is one of my favorites. I'm reading them in order.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

This book was an amazing beginning to a long and enthralling saga. I know I could read it faster, but the narrator makes the listen SO worthwhile.

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back, packing a whole lot of attitude. This time around, she's on the trail of Kenny Mancuso, a boy from the working-class burg of Trenton, New Jersey, who has just shot his best friend. Fresh out of the Army and suspiciously wealthy, Mancuso's also distantly related to Joe Morelli, a vice cop with questionable ethics, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations.

I knew this book would be a funny romp in the continued life of our favorite bounty hunter. Unfortunately, I'll have to read all about it, because after just a couple of chapters, I simply could not continue with the horrible narration. How could you take a classic series like this one and destroy the humor, the prosody, the timing? Do I sound disappointing? You bet I am. I seldom toss an audio title, even if the narration is suspect. But this one? The only direction I'll take here will be towards my Nook where I know I'll enjoy the tale. Shame on you. I paid for this title. Shame on me.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

A Discovery of Witches is a paranormal romance. It's a love story first, and a mystery after that. I listened to this book while friends read it. I enjoyed it way more than they did due to the excellent narration. I think the book could have been a bit shorter, and I think the romance was too overdone. If I hear the phrase "moi couer" one more time, I think I'll scream.

Even with those drawbacks, I enjoyed the story. I'm looking forward to the 2nd book, hoping that the same narrator does the job.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narrator could have used the voices she used in the previous titles.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Seduction in Death?

I'm not finished with the book yet.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Boring; no change in voices.

What character would you cut from Seduction in Death?

    N/A

    Any additional comments?

I came to work this morning intent on doing exactly what I'm doing, only to find out that pretty much all of the reviews are about the disappointing narration. I love this series, and I love listenint to it rather than reading it mostly because of the voices. I fell in love with Roarke by
