"all you love about the "others" in this series"
First, let me say that I have checked the author's website and this book should be number 7 in the storyline order of this series. Second, again let me say that everything you love about the "Others" in this series, you will find in this book. Out of everything my one complaint is that it ended far to soon, yet had the author dragged it out with the usual "filler" that would have spoiled it. I suppose I do have a second complaint but not about this story and that is that for some reason Tantor Audio has yet to publish number 6! So if you are fanatical about story order you should pick up "on the prowl" in print before you start this one. Oh! FINAL WARNING-LIKE ALL CHRISTINE WARREN'S BOOKS THIS IS SUPER HOT! Last comment I promise, the book On the Prowl I referred to? make sure it's by Warren not Briggs, that is a whole other great story!
"Patricia Briggs just keeps getting better!"
She keeps building on her world, she laid this amazing foundation, like a beautiful yet frightening floor mozaic. Then she adds the walls with murals and supporting columns, the painted ceiling. Eventually you are surrounded by a cathedral of the fanciful and the grotesque, brilliant! Now a side note: I have only this title in the series in my audible library as I had already acquired the first two in the series from another source before I discovered Audible. I have also found the Mercy Thompson books available in audio from my local library. If you know someone in publishing, please! Someone really needs to record in audio the prequel novella Alpha and Omega from the anthology On the Prowl. The story of Cry Wolf feels very incomplete without it, I found an amateur recording of it(free no less) on the exchange table at my local library. Yes someone finally did that much for the visually impaired readers/fans of PB. We who are sighted do enjoy audiobooks but for the blind this is the only way unless it is available in brail or they have someone to read to them. Will someone on the print/audio publishing end please have the prequel novella recorded and published soon?
"Well Done Once Again Dee!"
I have just finished reviewing Danger in the Shadows and as my personal headline reads I have limited spare time. I would like to say, refer back to my review of DitS and that will say it all. Dee Henderson and Tom Stechschulte make a crack team!
p.s. I would like to make a correction about the O'Malley Series #2 is The Guardian but #4 is The Healer, #6 is The Rescuer
"Well done all around!"
Beautifully written & perfectly narrated! A true romantic suspense without the usual smut! This is a Christian author who lives and writes her ideals. She manages to send a clear message of God's love and how people of true faith live their lives without preaching or diluting the fine tension of the story. Amazing!
Tom Stechschulte is one of the finest narrators I have had the pleasure of hearing. He has done nearly all of Dee Henderson's books and I get the definite sense that he enjoys them as much as I.
Dee Henderson is an amazing author. I wish she had more books out but I believe that quality is far more important then quantity, and quality is something she delivers-IN SPADES! She expresses violence, in defense of bystanders, loved ones, ones country and oneself as the unfortunate necessity it is. Expresses romance and the strong attraction everyone looks for in romance, but with the respect and restraint that is to often missing in fiction and in life. I can read or listen to her works and simply enjoy. I will not be walking or working out then suddenly freeze and go: Wait, did she have to go into THAT kind of detail? In a simple and transparent metaphor: there is no smoke to make you wince or cloud things up, no fire to burn the plot to rubble. Just the heat of action and the kind of warm relaxing steam that even the slightly prudish reader/listener can enjoy any time of day.
Danger in the Shadows is a prequel to the O'Malley Series of which The Guardian is #2 and The Healer is #6 I believe Audible has the rest of them clearly labeled. Check them out and enjoy!
