I have Loved Every Molly Harper book and this one is no exception. I have to say I laughed more from this book than any other Molly book and that is saying something.
It was nice that the "Jane Jameson cast" was featured and Nola was truly refreshing. Nola is sent to the Hollow for 4 objects and after meeting Jane and the gang she sets out in search of them. Of course the funny mishaps and corky characters I have come to expect for a Molly book comes across strong and the new characters she features have there own voice. The book moves along every quickly and sadly for me, It's quick read means I'm now finished with it.
I was at first weird-ed out that Amanda Ronconi has an accent for Nola and carries it through the whole book but after 5 minutes in to the book it felt right. I have to say that Amanda is always great but she out did herself with all the accents. I know that she doesn't have a true Boston/Irish accent but then again what would that sound like? they are so at odds with each other. But the accent she does use is very distinct and set Nola apart from any other character that Amanda has done.
This book is a must have! I have loved it so much that I have it in paper back and in audio! I have had this book on every Ipod and iphone I have owned and when my computer crashed I repurchased it. (this time on audible so if something happens I can get it back!)
Yelena is such a strong female that overcomes her plight in life and finds love along the way. Instead of whining about her lot in life she takes action and looks for ways out. The whole series is amazing and turns in so many ways but still keeps the voice and reason that Yelena has in the first one.
As for Gabra Zackman, I have to say I could not imagine a better reader. I real love her as a narrator and was very happy that she did all three. I read the print version of this book way before the audio but when I heard Gabra I knew I would never be able to read this book again! she made Yelena come to life more than I could ever imagined and as for Valek, well I will say she made a great book in to am amazing audio book!
This book is my go to book when I don't know what to read or listen to!
This book reminds me of the old Sookie books which makes me so happy. In the last few she was so depressed and you can tell that she is moving on in this one. Sookie has a lot of time to come to terms with a lot that has happened in her life. Her attitude is changing and her life is becoming more mundane. Well as mundane as she can ever really become. Sure this book is not my Favorite, Book 4 will always be but this book makes me happy to see that Sookie can start to move forward.
Johanna Parker was always great narrator! I loved her in this book but I wish Niall voice matched what it was in previous books. Other than that all of her voices sounded the same.
Charlaine started the process of wrapping up the series with this book and she makes them feel like that is the way it should be with out over complicating things. She also set up the next book with Sam, Eric, Pam and Bill. and I am glad for it. She has solved the sub plots that have circled Sookie for so long but the big ending of this book that has set up the next book makes me very excited to see whats next even if it is the last one.
I have loved all of Molly's book and this one is just as good! This book sums up Jane's story and yet creates more for her to build on.
I always get a kick out of Jane and was happy that her voice and personality were the same in this book compared to the first one. Sure Jane has grown but she is still the lovely sassy person she started out to be. The other great thing is that all the other main characters were there and had progressed in to their own lived and that each one had there own voice.
Amanda Ronconi's performances are always stellar. She has a way of making a character sound sassy, strong and comical which is totally Jane. I think when Molly found Amanda to read her books she found a great combination. You can really tell that Amanda loves reading Jane.
I love the end of the book which ended happy yet very Jane.
