"My first Mike Bennett book, found a new favorite!"
This is the first Mike Bennett book I've listened to, and I'll definitely be checking out the others. I would give the story 3 1/2 stars - I liked the characters and the progression of the story, but the "aha moment" at the end was a letdown for me. I gave it an extra 1 1/2 stars because I loved Bobby Canavale. He really made the character of Bennett come alive for me.
"Disappointing!"
I've been a big fan of the Rizzoli and Isles series, but her four last books have been one disappointment after another. This story was pretty predictable and burdened with cliches. The two main characters, Rizzoli and Isles did not really have much to do with the story itself (just like her past few books), and could have been removed from the book and nobody would be the wiser.
Tanya Eby's voice was a bit too bright and enthusiastic for a mystery novel. Anna Fields got Rizzoli and Isles spot-on.
No, this was a total waste of time.
Tess Gerritsen got me hooked on Rizzoli and Isles with "The Surgeon," "The Apprentice," "The Sinner," and "Body Double." With the other later novels in the series, it's as if she dusted off some practice novels she wrote when she was just a beginner writer, and decided to pepper in Rizzoli and Isles here and there just so the novels can be sold under the franchise. I'm ready to give up on the Rizzoli and Isles series altogether.
"A knockoff from "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo""
I am a big fan of Tess Gerritsen. I am definitely getting the next Rizzoli/Isles installment!
I have all the Rizzoli/Isles audiobooks and I have to say I am disappointed that this story was almost a copy of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," from the heroine (with a dragon tattoo herself) and the big "aha" moment at the end.
"Waste of time"
I didn't even finish this book. It was a mish-mash of stories, in no particular order. I didn't find myself liking (or caring what happened to) any of the characters at all, so why bother finishing it?
