The man he knew as "Control" is dead, and the young Turks who forced him out now run the Circus. But George Smiley isn't quite ready for retirement-especially when a pretty, would-be defector surfaces with a shocking accusation: a Soviet mole has penetrated the highest level of British Intelligence. Relying only on his wits and a small, loyal cadre, Smiley recognizes the hand of Karla - his Moscow Centre nemesis - and sets a trap to catch the traitor.

    Any additional comments?

Keeping all the characters strait was a challenge. I tried to read this book but was getting hopelessly lost. After listening to the book I was able to go back and finish reading it ...enjoying it a second time. I also moved on to the Honorable School Boy (the follow up book) Both good books with engaging stories.

Would you consider the audio edition of Persuasion to be better than the print version?

Two different species, no comparison necessary. I often enjoy listening and reading the same book. You get different but equal enjoyment from both formats.

What other book might you compare Persuasion to and why?

All of Jane Austen's books are wonderful, but Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice are the best in my opinion. It's the language for me. The slow and careful pacing of the story and the descriptive phrases she uses all combine to make her novels enduring works of literature. As I stated in my title....A treat for the ears and mind.

Have you listened to any of Juliet Stevenson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not as yet listened to other of her audio performances but have enjoy her work as an actor,
