If you love English history, and the descriptions of life in the court of Henry VIII, spend a credit on this one.
Really enjoyed this new series- looking forward to the next one. Good historical novel without being too "romantic" (yuck).
Loved this story and the main character who is innocent but not ridiculous . Dean Koontz is a Master in telling a story, in my opinion.
A very good novel of the hard life of the pioneers of the west and the characters, especially the heroine and the Mexican pioneers, were complex and very fairly written. I think I will listen to anything George Guidell reads and love it, though!
For me this book was soul filling- it was full of every emotion imaginable- harsh and vulgar at times, beautiful and poetic at times and full of longing and angst at times. I loved the characters, the art and history, the antiques world, and the world of the wealthy of New York. It is worth every bit of one credit- I would have paid 4 for it ( it is long enough for 4 credits). Others have not felt it deserved the NYTimes best seller position- not me, it deserves #1 in my humble opinion. And I thought the narrator was superb.
Wow, this is a situation I have never really considered but reading this book made me think! I believe the author researched the potential of this calamity actually happening, so I really feel educated as well as entertained.
I love English historical novels, but this one was just too long and complicated and became drudgery to listen to it. I stopped about 3/4 through and doubt I will go back to finish it.
This story is a treasure of wonderfully descriptive Chinese history and a captivating novel as well. Narration was first rate and I can't wait to read another of Guy Gavriel Kay's books.
A beautiful, wonderous story with fascinating characters, and the perfect narration of George Guidell. Is already one of my favorites- one to listen to again and again.
I love to listen to audiobooks that have a great story, interesting characters, and teach me something at the same time- these are a treasure. The Potato Factory is just such a historical novel and I almost missed it because of the boring title! How glad I am that I didn't. Onto Book 2- Tommo and Hawk....
