It was his first big murder case - and one of the bloodiest and most violent crimes LAPD detective Danny McGuire would ever encounter. Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act.

This 10th novel in Robyn Carr’s New York Times best-selling series features scruffy-looking ex-Navy gynecologist Aiden Riordan and prickly lawyer Erin Foley. While each just wants to get away from it all for the summer, a bear scare, a bizarre concussion, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity thrust them together and kindle an unlikely romance. Then Aiden’s scheming ex-wife shows up.

In a novel that is as compelling as it is compassionate, Danielle Steel weaves a story of courage in the face of unimaginable loss. With the grace of a master storyteller, she explores the strength it takes to conquer our greatest fears, showing us how the toughest choices can yield the most unexpected rewards...and how the longest, most winding journeys can begin with a single kiss.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook. I love Danielle Steele stories and would go as far as saying this was in the top 10 of my favourites.

What did you like best about this story?

Fistly it was set in France and UK and not upmarket parts of America, which makes a difference. The storyline keeps you on the edge until the end.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Joseph Siravo?

I think that Joseph Sravo has a great voice but he is not good at accents, especially British accents, he sounded nothing like a British person . I would however listen to another book narrarted by him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The whole book!

    Any additional comments?

Lovely story, could not 'put it down' and finished it in record time (for me that is)

Would you try another book from Charlotte Bingham and/or Judy Bennett Simon?

What a disspointment - I have become a hardened Charlotte Bingham fan until this book. I loved the story in the beginning but then quickly became bored. It just went on & on with nothing happening very quickly ant too much detail.
Judy Bennett Simon read it brilliantly but I gave up after only an hour into the second half of the book!

Would you ever listen to anything by Charlotte Bingham again?

    Yes

What does Judy Bennett Simon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings all the characters alive

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappoinment and sadness for wasting the time trying to enjoy it.

    Any additional comments?

    Not much else to say

But when, miraculously, George returns safely from the front after four years, Amelia finds that the boy she loved has gone…

When they first enter the kissing garden and what they experience

This is my second Fern Michaels book, love the way she writes and really enjoy the story line. The Real Deal is also a wonderful story but am finding the narrator, Andrea Gallo quite frustrating to listen to as she reads slowly and can hear her swallowing after sentences. I feel as though I want to shout down my iPod to "get a move on"! This has unfortunately changed my rating.
