"A STEP ABOVE THE REST!!!"
If you have ever read or listen to a story that has you talking to, laughing at, or shaking your head at the characters, then that story has engulfed you and pulled you into their world. And for me, that’s the best natural high a book reader can achieve. And seriously if you think about it, it’s the only reason to read a book. This is by far one of best series of urban fantasy that I have had the privilege of listening to.
Stacia Kane's delivered a spellbinding and very unique story. Scary at times, dangerous at times, over the top at times, however brought together through life trails, love and hope. The characters are well developed and very interesting.
Although at times, I thought Chess needed to rein in the insecure emotional drama, I can’t wait for the saga to continue.
Bahni Tupin brings each character to life with his/her own distinct personalities. Tupin is one of the best narrators on Audible.
"“SO MANY TWIST AND TURNS”"
….I think I got whiplash.
The author skillfully interconnects the lives of several people within a suburban community. It’s almost seems as if you are reading two stories at the same time. The author did an outstanding job of bring them together to create an engaging, fast-pace, suspenseful drama.
There was another review that stated “At the book's conclusion he inserts a final twist that borders on the preposterous.” Not to give anything away, but there was a scene that took place in the basement that I thought “really”. However, the actual end of the story I thought was great, very unpredictable. For me, if I can guess the ending, then I’m very disappointed. But I would never have put the ending together. So I guess it a matter of preference.
For me, books that evoke thought, emotional out burst, and verbal outrage, are some of the best-written words out there. The author introduces, though the mind of one of the character, some psychological theories that might make you go …umm! The point being it evoke thought. This is a great read!!!
""LISTENED FOR A STRAIGHT 8 HOURS!!"
Then started it over and listened again.
Jeaniene Frost weaves a story full of plot twists, unpredictable events, realistic emotions, and of course agonizing cliffhangers.
Vlad has been one of my favorite characters from the “Night Huntress” series. With his on way of doing things, and if you are not in agreement, then get out of his way or get impaled. But the electrifying Leila stands up to him at every turn. She refuses to settle for less than she feels she deserves from the man that she loves.
Their courtship is not a sappy or mushy romantic journey. It is more of an expansion of two super powers, both of which have a dark side.
Hopefully Vlad & Leila will never turn into a typical couple, for this is one fan that would be very disappointed if that happens.
Jeaniene has a wonderful chance to turn this couple into a powerhouse of entertainment. Let’s hope she seizes the opportunity so we the fans can reap the benefits.
Travis Gilbert, what can be said “SUPERB”. She brings every character to life, with it’s own unique mannerism and personalities.
""SO ENGROSSING""
This was my first Karin Slaughter novel, but it will not be my last.
After reading some of the comments about now dark the storyline was and how the reader didn't deliver on the southern accents, I almost didn't listen to this one.
However this book had me so engrossed that I didn't even noticed the accent. If the book's content hadn't been dark and bleak, then the story would have fell short of being developed. The author has to show how horrible it is in prison. It was also her job to show you the deep depravity of a serial killer’s mind. That, after all is the basis of the story. Otherwise you would have has a fluff piece without depth.
TripTych has mystery, suspense, and lots of drama. If I’m totally honest, there were parts of the story that made me whence and even had me saying, “that’s disgusting”.
But in the end it was a helluva ride. And I'm glad I brought a ticket.
""ANOTHER WINNER""
Totally enjoyed the Dani O'Malley character. She is young, innocent, and totally a hero of the people. Lately all the books in the “Paranormal Fantasy” genre are falling closer and closer to the “Romance” genre. This book is very entertaining without all the romantic dialogue.
If this book is any indication, K Moning is delivering a spin-off series that is captivating, entertaining, and “Fecking unbelievable” in the words of Dani O'Malley.
If you are into a book just for the steamy romantic ride, then this book might not be for you. However if you are into a book for the author ability to deliver a well-developed, extremely entertaining story, then you might enjoy the story of Dani O’Malley.
I have listened to this book twice and can't wait for the next Dani O'Malley book.
Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross, what can I said, congratulation to a job well done!!!!
""WOW" Totally enjoyed this book!!!!"
“And One Last Thing” is hilarious!!
Harper’s delivery is nothing short of masterful. If you enjoy a light hearted, good natured, and extremely funny read; then by no mean should you skip “And One Last Thing”. Spend the credit and take the ride. Guarantee you will at the very least smile, if not laugh out loud.
To Amanda Ronconi - thanks for the performance that had me laughing out loud.
"Bigger Than Life works for “One Shot""
If you love bigger than life characterization, you will love Jack Reacher.
When I first started the story, I will admit it didn't hold my attention. I had to restart the story several times. However around chapter three I was fully engaged and trying to figure out what would happen next. Much to my delight I was not able to figure out the outcome.
Although my taste usually leans toward the more realistic characters when it come to suspenseful thrillers, Jack Reacher may be the exception. Or maybe I found a new genre!
I would recommend it! It's worth the credit.
"A BONE-a-fide attention CATcher"
The Night Huntress series was entertaining and fun. The characters are dynamic and the plots are fast pace and interesting.
At first the British’s voice for Bones seem a bit over the top. But by the end of the series I couldn’t imagine his voice being portrayed any other way.
The Cat character is strong and self reliant, but at the same time sensitive and compassionate.
Listen to the series is this order:
HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
AT GRAVE’S END
DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON Spade & Denise
ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS Mencheres & Kira
THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
THE BITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
ONCE BURNED Vlad & Leila
If you don’t read in the above order, books 5 & 6 in The Night Huntress series will seem like the author started to stray the story with details that don’t make any sense.
Travia Gilbert "Two Thumbs Up"
""TICKLED PINK in the face FROM LAUGHTER""
I laughed through the entire book. Truly, I did laugh out loud from cover to cover. It's witty, entertaining, and entirely enjoyable. And the fact that it's set in Kentucky, where I'm from, only added to my enjoyment.
Molly Harper is a hoot and a holler. She has a very dry wit, which will have you holding your side from laughing.
Amanda Ronconi did an excellent job with the narration.
Worth the credit, and will definitely will surprise you.
""RAPTURE MEANS EXACTLY THAT RAPTURE""
I'm not a big erotica fan. And I think that is because most writers push the envelope beyond reality to unbelieve ability.
However, the first bathroom scene between Magnus the spiritual leader and Daenaira the handmaiden had me hollering out loud in a crowded area. Embarrassed much!
Daenaira is sexually innocent, but naturally curious, and has no idea the effect she is having on Magnus as she performs her duty of bathing him. I don't want to said too much and give it away, but Jacquelyn's description of the scene was nothing short of masterful.
To add the cherry on top it was delivered by one of the best narrator on Audible - Kristen Potter.
Unfortunately, Jacquelyn didn't take the time to develop the third book Pleasure as well as the first two. Pleasure is like two short stories, rushed, and not up to the standards she set for herself in Ecstasy & Rapture. Which is a shame; because I think I could have followed this series for a long time.
""CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO AMY""
Totally enjoyed "Phantom Shadows” more than the other two books because it's focus was on Bastien the underdog bad boy of the Immortal Guardians. And I always root for the underdogs.
Diana Duvall developed the relationship between Bastien & Melanie perfectly. And she didn't have to do it through sexual exploits, like so many writer do today. Which by the way is really disappointing sometimes. Don't get me wrong there was a strong physical attraction between the two, but it was not overdone.
Bastien is a self-proclaim bad boy with a bad attitude, who believes he is not worst loving, until he runs into the lovely sassy Melanie that comes at him with a two sided axe chopping his belief down like a lumber jack chopping down a tree.
Bravo Mrs. Duvall!!!
To add the cherry on top it was delivered by one of the best narrator on Audible - Kristen Potter.
