If you could sum up Hideaway in three words, what would they be?

    Hang on tight.

What did you like best about this story?

The complete development of the characters.

What about Michael Hanson and Carol Cowan ’s performance did you like?

The ability to pronounce words most of us would trip on. They never missed a beat as their pacing was excellent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The pre-adoption meeting.

    Any additional comments?

As always, Koontz is a master of suspense and you never know what's around the next corner.

Christmas Eve, and the Lee family's reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed. When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man....

The story and the superb narration puts you right in the middle of the investigation. Character development, as always with Agatha Christie novels, makes one not want the book to end.

Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria. In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.

Would you consider the audio edition of Odd Apocalypse to be better than the print version?

To me, the audio edition brings the characters to life better than the print version. The change in tone of the reader'a voice adds excitement and keeps my interest at a peak.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

You never know how Odd-Man is going to get out of each difficult situation.

What does David Aaron Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His range of voices lets you know who is talking and their mood and attitude.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The discovery of the bodies and their condition.

  • Intensity: A Novel

    Story

Past midnight, Chyna Shepherd, 26, gazed out a moonlit window, unable to sleep on her first night in the Napa Valley home of her best friend's family. Instinct proves reliable. A murderous sociopath, Edgler Forman Vess, has entered the house, intent on killing everyone inside. A self-proclaimed "homicidal adventurer", Vess lives only to satisfy all appetites as they arise, to immerse himself in sensation, to live without fear, remorse, or limits, to live with intensity.

Connie says: "One of the best Koontz Books!"
"Not recommended for those who scare easily"
    Overall

There is only one way to describe Koontz's Intensity: "intense". I wouldn't recommend listening to this audiobook while trying to go to sleep. The development of the main characters (one of Koontz's greatest talents) is way beyond the norm. In short, it is a story of great courage and the risk of torture and death to save another.
