When the young girl washed up on their shore, no one knew she had been a Vessel. That she had carried a Product. That it had been carved from her belly. Stolen. Claire had had a son. She was supposed to forget him, but that was impossible. When he was taken from their community, she knew she had to follow. And so her journey began. But here in this wind-battered village Claire is welcomed as one of their own. In the security of her new home, she is free and loved. She grows stronger.

In this joyous and whimsical holiday novel, Debbie Macomber rings in the season with the return of Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy, delivering laughs, love, and a charming dose of angelic intervention. Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy know that an angel's work is never done, especially during a time as wondrous as New Year's Eve. With an apprentice angel, Will, under their wings, they descend upon Times Square in New York City eager to join in the festivities.

Jennifer Egan brings her unique gifts as a novelist and short story writer to a compulsively listenable narrative that centers on Bennie Salazar, an aging punk rocker and record executive, and the beautiful Sasha, the passionate, troubled young woman he employs.

What did you like best about A Visit from the Goon Squad? What did you like least?

    Iliked the narration the best.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It is interesting to see what people who live only for the culture of this world look like.

What does Roxana Ortega bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Her characterization with voice, amazing

    Any additional comments?

This is definitely not my life or way of living. There is zero spirituality for any of the characters. It is interesting but empty and sad.
