This was an excellent book. It follows friends from their school careers. I loved how we get to know each Character and how they turned out as young adults. It featured everyday lives and makes you think of your own life. Overall, an excellent story. The story kept me interested in the Characters lives and their families.
I am very disappointed where EJD is going with his books lately! I am a huge fan of his, but his last two books, "Decadence" and now "A Wanted Woman" makes me nervous about using my credits or buying another book by EJD! In this book, the Narrator, Zoe Bell voice is monotone and B-O-Y was I having a hard time listening to her voice! Since the narrator needed to become the voice of "Agent MX-401", I am not going to avoid other books she may have here that she narrated. It could be the character that she is playing? The story is VERY poor! It sounds like EJD did not write this, but a grade-school student did. Sorry, I must give this book one star. One minute she is talking as though she is in grade school and the next minute she is killing someone... At times I had to rewind to see "where did that come from....???"EJD, PLEASE bring back the Gideon Series!
I am not sure why a review states it was "terrible narration"? It was perfect and it fit the story-line. Overall, these books are a good read... HOWEVER, it is getting a little "crazy" to think all these serial killers are all from the same area (if you are reading the series). I am glad the author did not add more "killings" to the little town..... Then it would be redundant and boring.
I decided to try this author because of the reviews of her books (and because my regular authors do not have any new books to read/hear). I am SO happy that I did! This book kept me wanting more... the story line is excellent and I had to find excuses to listen more (headphones on while cooking... working..... etc...etc....)
I bought more credits just to start the next book in the series... Great job Ms. Jackson!!
Great job to the narrator, Alan Nebelthau too! Actually, speaking of the Narrator, Alan Nebelthau sounds a lot like the Narrator, George Guidall of the "Walt Longmire" series of author Craig Johnson? (Another series I listen to - but the third Longmire book really isn't working for me.... we shall see....)
I've listened and read all of EJD books and am very disappointed with Decadence. If I wanted a story full of porn, I would have gone to a different type of site. Even if someone was sexually active, to the point of having it as an addiction, one wouldn't have an encounter every min of their lives.... Hopefully the next book will have a plot (like the Gideon series).
If it has a plot (or whatever you would call it in this book), no.
First of all, I LOVED the performances, especially Ezra Knight! I love audiobooks that have different Narrators to play each Character... it keeps it interesting!
The story was very good and the role each family member played made me want to learn more about each Character. If you like the action and drama to continue in each Chapter, you will find this book very interesting... like all Carl Weber books! :-)
I have to be honest, a few places in the book I "bookmarked" because it was very interesting and something to remember. However, I will need to listen to this book again and perhaps a third time to understand half of what was said.... Some of the book was hard to understand and left me questioning what he just said... Overall, a pretty good book and worth the time (or two) to listen to...
This story concentrates on the big birthdays of the 30's, 50's, and 60's. It showcases three individuals and it is well written and a pleasant story to listen to. I love all of Danielle Steel books... At times she can repeat herself quite a bit in her books, but I found this book to have less repetition.
Please tell me that there will be additional books on Gideon? It cannot stop here... I loved the series!
I truly enjoyed this book. The four friends are right at my age and each of them have something in their lives that are similar to my life! I can relate to the characters.
