"Amazing"
This book was written by one of the survivors. The author gives a foreword and afterword (the author has a heavy South American accent and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to follow easily when I head the foreword but someone else narrates the rest of the book). The narrator has a light South American accent that adds to the story's perspective. The recording is good and the pace is good. First person perspective. I'm blown away by the toughness and determination of Nando and his friends. Well told. I was riveted to this book and would recommend it to anyone.
"Great Book"
The recording is good and the pace is leisurely. The author reads this book and he has an English accent. I think that his accent and narration is perfect for the setting of the story. Even though he doesn't do characterizations (different voices), I was able to get into the characters. The symbolism of the story is what truly makes this book a classic. As a bonus, the author comments on his writing at the end. I recommend this book.
"Poetic"
You will either hate this book or love this book. The recording is good and the narrator's pace is quick. I think that the recording does the book great justice. The author's writing is very eloquent. His pace is somewhat tedious and long winded. To say the least, he gets a bit sidetracked in detail, detail, detail. If you like poetry and don't mind infinite detail, you will like this book.
"Well Told"
This book is narrated by the author. The pace is good and the recording is good. First person perspective. I have been intrigued by Everest and the author gives some nice details about the climb in general. He also gives some good background about the world's highest mountains and the climbing culture. The group he climbed with were a bunch of characters and he tells interesting anecdotes about most of them. I listened to the book twice.
