  • The Dark Tower: The Dark Tower VII

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

    "Great Narrator"
    Overall

There are many reviews here already about the content, so I won't repeat them. I thoroughly enjoyed the content, even with its flaws.
Kudos to the narrator! Rarely does one person so well depict both male and female characters, good guys and bad guys. This is the first SK book that I've listened to, so I've never heard him before, but he greatly added to my experience.

  • Shadowland: The Mediator, Book 1

Meg Cabot is the New York Times best-selling author of The Princess Diaries series. Susannah Simon is a teenager who can see ghosts. As a bridge between the living and the dead, she gets called on to help ghosts take care of unfinished business. After she and her mother move from New York City to sunny California, Suze meets the sexiest boy she's ever seen, too bad he's a ghost, too.

    "Not for adults"
    Overall

I bought this book mostly because so many reviews said it could be enjoyed by adults, but I disagree. The plot is interesting, but the delivery is full of cliches and trite teenage emotions. Almost every character except the main two are flat and obviously exist only to fulfill plot necessities.
The narrator was very good at portraying Suze, the main character. But she also had an annoying habit of speaking unnaturally slowly and deeply when performing male voices. It was eerie and distracted me from the story.
Nevertheless, the plot was intriguing enough to capture my interest so I give this book an overall average rating.
