Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. But Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.

    "A thinking persons book"
    Overall

It should be said first that this book is more of a character study set within the confines of a romance novel (without the fluff) than a hard SciFi book. However there are distinct SciFi themes to satisfy most cerebral thinkers. The core of this book goes way beyond genres into the realm of literature and hits at the root of the human condition, emotional fear, social mores, prejudice, and stereotypical misconceptions based on looks rather than character.

The author sets up a hopeless scenario and then very adeptly leeds us through a transformation to a brilliant ending that was immensely satisfying. This book makes you think. I like action adventure books as much as the next guy but I am not afraid at self examination and the sometime ugly refections that a well written, intelligent first person account reveals.

Kate Reading does an excellent job with a difficult but well crafted story that takes place entirely inside the head of two woman trapped inside a single body. (Written in 1st person ... thats a real trick!)

This book is character driven, with real people who embrace real emotions. It was by far one of my most favorite Audible books of the year (and I only have one credit left!)I highly recommend it.

Shara Drummond was a gifted dancer and a brilliant choreographer, but she could not pursue her dream of dancing on Earth. So she went to space, creating a new art form in three dimensions. And when the aliens arrived, there was only one way to prove that the human race deserved not just to survive, but to reach the stars. The only hope was Shara, with her stardance.

I'm all for nostalgia, but this book was awful. Picture Johnathan Livingston Seagull meets Close Encounters meets River dance, meets Cheech and Chong. All rolled up in a silly tale that reeks of the failed (1965-1975) promise of free love and pot induced euphoric flower power. This might have been good as a novella but it feels stretched thin and full of holes as a stand alone work.

Where Heinlein's books may be dated, they still make you stop and think, this author just makes me giggle.

His reading of his own work was over the top and the voice so character laden that he failed to fade into a role of first person story telling and instead vied for the readers attention like a Greek chorus who steals the show.

I give it two stars for entertainment value, but I don't think it was a laugh that the author was going for.
