Sadly Important Story
Just overall being allowed to share this painful experience with my favorite author.
A real 5 hanky book!
Twists and turns abound in this story which is a change from this authors usual style. It is about a young girl who seeks the Mother who "left her"., but it is so much more. The story is set in a wilderness preserves for Elephants, Where we are drawn into the daily world of Elephant care, behavior and the characters in it. Guaranteed surprise ending, so I'll stop here. A really good sensitive book that will open your minds to life, death and Elephants.
Here's the story of two best friends, and their life long journey. You will laugh, cry and commiserate with them. A great book!
I dont know a better story??? I tried 4 times to read this book and just cant get into it!
no. Im not a big horror/sifi fan but I let each book stand by itself
I think he did a good job
Disappointment that I wasted a credit!
Everything...plot boring and undeveloped, characters weak. Im going back to Larry McMurtry. The king of the western novel!
Dont waste $ or credits
I dont normally read or listen to the sci fi/ horror type novels, but the reviews caught my interest and Im glad that they did. I really enjoyed this creepy novel and already bought the sequel to listen to next.
Not for the faint of heart! Bryce was able to weave together 2 of societies ills, the child pornography trade and alcoholism into a story that made me wince and cry and smile.
This story really helped me understand the program that AA offers and how it helps those that are addicted.
Humphrey Bower is my favorite narrator. His voice and characterizations are spot on! No one else can evoke such laughter and tears from me.
A tough subject to read about, as was his book, Jessica, but well worth your time.
Im a big fan of Courtenay and Bower together, but the female reader, Melissa Eccleston, with the phony yiddish/jewish/german accent was annoying. I dont know who would enjoy it, my jewish grandmother???
the female reader, Melissa Eccleston, used a thick, phony yiddish/jewish/german accent was annoying. It made the story difficult to follow.
Anger- That I wasted a credit to purchase this book!
Michael gave us a peek into the mind of the "male", a taste of nostalgia and more then a few laughs.
Always love it when the Author can read his own work..We get the insight from the writers personal voice inflection
Sure made me laugh! A lot!
Male or Female...a great read/listen.
The story line was really weak. The first book had good characters and a well developed story. This sequel just rambled and stumbled along playing off the original story and other books of this type.
No this book just turned me off!
I sure hope not, but considering the downward spiral of what is called "entertainment" today, who knows.
Don't waste your time, $$$, or points!!
