I regard it as top ten. If you have read One Second After and then read this you can put the two together, even though by different authors.
havent listened to any other but he is a good narrator.
overall i thought the book was good
Being a keen cyclist I would have repaired the bike. Made it 17 days instead of 77. Joke
I was really looking forward to listening to this as I have read quite a few of Joe Nobodies books.
The audio download was so poor that the narrator was unintelligeable.
Only rated it as one star so I could comment on the rest of this.
audio download quality
couldnt understand him at all so I can't say if he is good or not.
dont know. judging by written books the content, if understandable, would have been quite good.
want my money back!
In the zombie genre its ##ONE
The lead character, who remains nameless until the last book.
I check when looking at books for narrators. I think good narrators can make or break a book. Jay suits this character perfectly.
Not really but the detail JL Bourne puts into the book is one of the reasons I like it so much.
I enjoyed the book and enjoyed the other two in the trilogy. They are worth relistening to.
I dont think the plot made clear just why they had to travel to the beach. The movie didnt either.
The narration overall was good, I was just dissappointed with the plotline. The main chacter as narrated by Tom was good.
Yeees..... But I must admit that it did drag on in some places.
The storyline had a very dismal and hopeless feel about it. Maybe this is why I couldnt take to it. If that was the intent, and I think it was by the author, then he achieved it in my opinion. I just like stories, even hopeless situation ones, to be a little more positive. At times I thought when reading that the main character was so demoralised that he would just end it all.
I read this book when it first came out in the 80's. Listening to it on audio is just as good as that first time.
The realisation that the comet was actually going to strike the earth and various peoples preparation, or lack of.
He narrates smoothly and gives accents more accurately than my reading does. (I'm Australian so some of the accents I am not clear on)
Towards the end was very sad with the battle. What a waste with so many people already dead from the catastrophy.
Get the authors book- Footfall. Another excellent book from this genre.
Wish there were more like it.
In the top 10 (and I have read over 100).
I like the detail the author puts into the characters and the location. I like the detailed descriptions of the way the world downsized and the way people had managed to cope.
His voice and narration sounded right for the lead character. If you close your eyes and listen you can picture him across the table chatting to you.
Not really, I enjoyed the story as a whole.
Just downloaded book two "the witch of hebron'. I hope its as good as this one
I downloaded this as a change from my usual fodder. It sounded interesting. That was the only reason. Actually its a very good book, well written, narrated and I think it would be fairly realistic for the situation. Its very much a SF book but full of suspense. I look forward to book two.
The main character, the newbie detective working under such difficult conditions. The narration is so good that you can picture the main and other characters.
I think overall the book flows with all scenes being well written and narrated. The number on the box.
Yes I would prefer to listen to it all, but it is easy to remember the storyline if you do need a break.
Keep an eye on this author and narrator.
The explanation and detail the author goes into with his preparation and the narration
Hard question. The stand (unabridged) comes to mind as Stephen King writes with the same detail.
The husband an his foresight influenced by his occupation.
I think the ending (read it as I wont give it away)
The fact the family wasn't a group of gun nuts and had a well thought out (in my opinion) range of self defence firearms.
Its not a bad book overall. My main gripe is the necessity of the "born again christian" idealogy pushing. I mean no offense to those who are born again but, in some cases, this comes across as the fundamentalism that we are apparently so against in other religious forms and countries. Extremism in any form seems to disregard other persons rights.
I look forward to reading his other book. i have already read Patriots. In both cases my comment above. Less on the religious stuff.
very good Narrator.
The plot was good, narration was good and the tech parts were well explained.
I didnt love the book but it was worth purchasing.
if you enjoy predictable claptrap where gun owners are all "bad guys" and if you are not a total greenie then this is for you
i dont think so
little voice expression (actually I dont blame the narrator. if I was reading this aloud I would also sound unenthusiastic)
