I loved this!! If you don't listen to The Shining first then you will find areas in this book that will lose you. Watching the movie The Shining does not follow the book. There are things they added to the movie that is not in the book and things in the book that did not make the movie. I would recommend the unabridged version, I have listened to both and I have watched the movie.
I am a big Stephen King fan so I was very excited when this book was released!! The narrator did a good job, had me wondering at first if I was going to be able to listen to him for long, but he grows on you.
The story is very good, but getting over the narrator....the voice drove me crazy!!! Clear your throat and speak up!
Absolutely Not!! This guy basically whispered in this rough harsh whisperish voice like he needs to clear his throat voice. The story line is the only thing that kept me listening. I will not be getting another book that he is the narrator on.
If someone like Scott Brick, Joe Montenga was reading this book.
Based on the book description alone, yes, but after reading the book. No. It listed a mystery thriller, but this book is really neither. It just follows a little girl who lost a sibling.
Small SPOILER: Without ever reavealing what truly happened to her brother leaves this book just hanging. Listening to the life of this little girl growing up was interesting with her family an all, but seemed to me nothing was tied up.
The book followed a topic that I have always found interesting.
Her reading style takes alot to get use to. She made the main charactor of this book ALWAYS sound so ominous. It was a struggle at times listening to her, but the story itself was good enough to keep me going.
If I had the time to sit and listen to an entire book at one time, this book would not be the one.
The story line is good. The book is about 200 pages to long. While I really enjoyed the story line, at some points it did get montonous, the same thing over and over again. I would recommend this book to someone, overall it is a good listen.
I read this book when it first came out. I still have that copy. I love this book. It makes you think.
The book is well written. I don't normally like the british accent when listening to a book but this one good listen. I did not have trouble understanding what was being said. The history of the house is sad..the story pulls at your heart strings for the children.
