well i wouldn't say "well-spent" but it did provide some chuckles, i enjoyed the dig at religion with some good character buildups but overall ridiculous fun, enjoy.
hallianan can certainly build up some comedy and a character or two, great listen this one, i'll be checking out the next "junior" adventure.
berkrot nailed the performance i would have given this an extra star for the story, however i found particular plot movements predictable (from me that's saying something) and the moralising was laid on a just a little thick for my liking. probably unfair criticism but there you go.
if you like a bit of fun while being criticised (ala "year zero" by reid), then perhaps "travelling in space" is the book for you, jeff did a bang up job with the narration however the magic was the view point presented from the visitors.
i did feel leiva backed off on some topics, and straight out whimped out on others, however hit the nail on the head on most (for me).
well worth a listen.
although these days the young'ns grow up so fast so perhaps if you're 8, this is the book for you.
i'm much like others here, great premise, start and pace... then it takes itself seriously and fails to deliver.
i love ballerini's performance, he's actually why i found the story in the first place.
an enjoyable romp through time and space... love the astro-physics and nuclear pointy-head posturing, sent me off to touch-up with some nuclear physics concepts (for the eight-year old daughter).
performance was great, i'm a sucker for dufris, having worked through most of scalzi's offerings.
what can i say, i was left wanting more, good work!
well written, well performed and quite gross :) recommend to people who like their horror messy
this book ended up being the introduction to scalzi for me so it harbours a warm feeling in my comedic alien lawyer heart.
what a ride! i've been going through a scifi bent of late, what a breath of recycled air this one was, gritty reality mixed with physics, gallows humour and just fun made this a trip worth taking, enjoyed every trajectory.
albeit somewhat farfetched i was happy to go along, great performance and some interesting twists.
worth a listen
not your usual scalzi (well the ones i've consumed on audible anyway), however i did detect him smiling away behind the scenes.
i agree with others here, this universe should be explored, christopher baby does a good job of bringing the characters to light in this dark, smelly world.
all in all i enjoyed this, not his usual rumpole meets the games, more a serious dark drama which places the toe into religion.
