"scalzi popcorn"
if you're a scalzi fan you'll eat these up.
love the format of drip feeding snippets, i'll happily interrupt the book i'm listening to for a quick giggle and division catchup.
"the humour is way, way under the surface"
not your usual scalzi (well the ones i've consumed on audible anyway), however i did detect him smiling away behind the scenes.
i agree with others here, this universe should be explored, christopher baby does a good job of bringing the characters to light in this dark, smelly world.
all in all i enjoyed this, not his usual rumpole meets the games, more a serious dark drama which places the toe into religion.
"painful"
sorry stuart, your take on your own characters was abominable, surely the audible people have some quality checking in place, i blame them.
no, just bad scottish semi-bellowing accents in general.
probably not, or only after having a careful listen to excerpts beforehand.
pain, then disappointment then a tinge of anger followed by indifference.
as you can tell, i wasn't particularly taken with the author's take on the characters, however i might have struggled further with it if the actual plot had grabbed me, which it did not... sorry stuart.
"kinda amusing"
well i wouldn't say "well-spent" but it did provide some chuckles, i enjoyed the dig at religion with some good character buildups but overall ridiculous fun, enjoy.
