Dr. Alexander's expertise in knowing the brain and how he couldnt have possibly dreamed the experience and how convincing he is in telling the reader how real it was (even more real than his earthly expieriences) makes this story even more believable and amazing!!
Love how much actual first hand knowlege Lawrence Wright got from former high ups in scientology to put into this book. Also like how he describes a lot of the wierd beliefs these people have but didnt make fun or criticize the beliefs, only criticized the human rights violations the church has committed. Someone can look at any religion and find all kinds of wacky things about it, but this one ruins your life if you try to escape it.
I'm not one to listen to books twice but I know I could do it without the urge to turn it off.
loved the job the narrarator did. Sounds like it could be Andrew
Now days weapons are camera phones! The government media complex would like to ban them.
This book just gave me a bit of hope for our country. It showed me that with the internet and all of the ways to get information out into the public, it is becoming more and more difficult for the mainstream leftwing media to control what is talked about. It showed me that even I if I happen to catch something important on camera could out some liar in the media or government.
I didnt know much about socrates so it was worth the listen just to gain the basic knowledge about him. Cant say it was super duper engaging but I'm glad I listened. Cant say that for all the books I've listened to.
You'd be crazy not to listen to this book. You dont need to be a war buff or a history buff. This book will grab you and never let you go. Sounds like the movie is finally going to come out in the next year or so.
Im not one to read books twice but I definately would put it toward the top of my fiction books to read twice. Great book that shows the problems with forced wealth sharing and making decisions based on emotion rather than facts. Ayn Rand was a great thinker.
Really funny because he has to speak quotes for a lot of women and he actually changes his voice a bit to portray this. At first I thought this was wierd but after a while I reallized how much it helped me realize who was speaking. He did a great job.
Great book. Lots of good interesting facts and a great overall history of the war from an unbiased perspective. Should engage anyone looking for a good history of the civil war.
This book has lots of names and tons of info about the war. I'm not great at remembering names, I remember stories and interesting facts. This has enough interesting stories and facts to keep anybody who enjoys american history engaged. I've read a few books lately that were packed full of info about history, the probelem was that they were so extremely dry (and I consider myself to enjoy dry books) that I just couldnt enjoy them. This book is enjoyable. Also the author really seems to be unbiased. He's not like "south bad, north good". He takes each person and group and tells the facts. Listen to it.
Not for me. It talks about this book being dumbed down for the average person and some parts are but it seems to me that I must be dumber than I think because the scientific content got above my head after the 1st hour or so mainly because it was moving so fast from concept to concept. I've always been interested in relativity and have read some short explanations that made much more sense of the theory than this book did. I think you need a decent amount of knowledge about the subject to be able to follow this unless you really slow it down and replay certain parts over and over.
I'm not one to listen to books twice, but if I were forced to do it this would be toward the top of the list.
Of course Wasdin
When the seals tied up the family living next door when they are in samolia so they wouldnt have to worry about the family attacking them while the seals gave their child antibiotics and saved his gangrenous legs from killing him.
In the end the auther is a very unbiased guy who realizes there is more to life than the military but tells a great story about a bunch of amazingly dedicated, crazy, heroic people.
