again, not his best, story is a little bland but still a good read for people who enjoy a review of history in "novel" form.
he is a wonderful reader. one of the few authors that can read his own work well.
yes i would because it is well written, includes historical background, much humor and although an author-narrated book usually doesn't work for me, this books has me hoping Simon Winchester narrates all of his book himself! This is one of my favorite listens of all time.
the Dutch colonial officials and the elephant
there is much humor in this book but the author's description/narration of the circus characters stands out as well as his tale of the student dinner/ lecture at Oxford.
well written, well spoken and enough story for both healthcare professionals and lay-persons.
the authors own reasons for writing this book
Mr Hoye,s voice is very pleasing and humanizes the tale very well.
this is a story better listened to than read. more understandable with a better flow and much more gripping.
I would compare this book to Into to the Wild
the author does a wonderful job on background so you begin to understand how this could have happened
