As soon they are released, Amanda Quick’s romances shoot to the top of best seller lists. With over 22 million copies of her books in print, she is one of today’s hottest authors. Set in Regency-era England, Mischief offers a sparkling mixture of wit and intrigue that has become Quick’s trademark. Beautiful, headstrong Imogen Waterstone has recruited the darkly infamous Earl of Colchester to help her seek revenge for the murder of her best friend. As they set a trap for the villain, Imogen and Colchester fearlessly encounter the threats and dangers that come their way.

This is one of Amanda Quick's best and handled superbly by Barbara Rosenblat. Charming, humorous and entirely enhanced by the narration.

If you're a fan of Regency romance, this is decidedly worth a listen.

Venetia Lanyon, beautiful, intelligent and independent woman, lives in comfortable seclusion in rural Yorkshire with her precocious brother Aubrey. Her future seems safe and predictable: Either marriage to the respectable but dull Edward Yardley, or a life of peaceful spinsterhood. But when she meets the dashing, dangerous rake Lord Damerel, her well-ordered life is turned upside down, and she embarks upon a relationship with him that scandalizes and horrifies the whole community.

Richard Armitage is wonderful. Delicious voice for the hero and a wide range of distinguishable voices of many characters. Ordinarily, I don't like abridged versions of books because I read before listening. However, I think the Queen of Regency benefits from a bit of judicious editing as long as performed by the magnificent Armitage.

At the advanced age of 26, the independent, wealthy and imminently practical Isabella Latham has no expectation of marriage. But, good-hearted and dutiful, Isabella accompanies her two young country cousins to oversee their London debut...only to find that it's she who is attracting suitors...all of whom do seem to have quite an excess of creditors!

The story was fine as was the narrator, but the production quality of the recording was so weak that I gave up listening. It sounds as if it were recorded in a bathroom.

After years of fending for herself, Kate Taylor found friendship and acceptance in Spindle Cove - but she never stopped yearning for love. The very last place she'd look for it is in the arms of Corporal Thorne. The militia commander is as stone cold as he is brutally handsome. But when mysterious strangers come searching for Kate, Thorne steps forward as her fiancé. He claims to have only Kate's safety in mind. So why is there smoldering passion in his kiss?

This is a very sweet and satisfying story, ably enhanced by Carolyn Morris' performance. While there is much use of modern language and sensibilities for a Regency, good story writing won my heart.

Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humorless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

Sarah Woodward delivers an excellent performance, especially in Sophy. I can picture a young Katharine Hepburn in the role, bold and brave, undaunted by being female in a male dominated society. Witty and fun, certainly squeeky clean.

There is a also a PDF attached with a nice discussion of Heyer and her work.

No respectable woman would have anything to do with the "Bane and Blight of the Ballisters", and he wants nothing to do with respectable women. FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox - an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

I am on my second listening of this and am enjoying even more than the first time. It's great fun. If "Ocean's Eleven" and "Miss Congeniality" had a baby, it would be this book.

Scott Brick does a good job with a casual, slightly snarky delivery perfect for the text.

Tiberius Flynn travels to Scotland with orders to snatch his young niece away from her Highland relations. He thinks it's going to be an easy task, until he meets the feisty little girl and her fiercely protective step-aunt. A smart, headstrong beauty, Hester Daniels has no use for an English lord with high-handed ways, no matter how handsome or beguiling he may be. Tye sets out to seduce Hester and win over Fiona, only to discover that he's losing his heart to a woman who's as untamable as Scotland itself.

I read this book, as I often do, before listening and enjoyed it both ways. I liked the unfolding of Tiberius' motivation and the building of their relationship. I also appreciated having a child character being a real person and not just a symbol. This is my second Grace Burrowes book and I am now a fan.

Roger Hampton delivered a great performance in my opinion. I loved his portrayal of the wordy, stuffy Tiberius as well as the sexy Tiberius. The female voices were fine for me as well. The challenge was Fiona's little girl voice, but I didn't find his performance of her distracting enough to diminish the book.

I eagerly await Book 3 and I will most certainly seek out more of Roger Hampton's narrations.

This is a quiet, gentle story of near strangers that become family over the course of time leading up to Christmas. A satisfying and soothing story, perfect for the hectic holiday season for me.
