I'm sure I'd recognize the landscape of this story, so well is it evoked. I loved the story, even though the story line is a bit predictable. If she wrote another episode I'd buy it.
Every book in the Longmire series is an invitation to escape the rainy West Coast, where I live, and relocate in the land and culture of Wyoming in the company of real, complex men and women. Love this world, this landscape, these people - the TV series doesn't begin do it justice!!! I've listened to the entire series and love this book in particular.
I love Mercy Thompson and have listened to every book in the series and the related books as well. I feel like I'd recognize these characters if I ever bumped in to them, they and their world is that well developed. I love Mercy for the same reasons I love Jane Yellowrock - they offer me female role models I can believe in, admire and aspire to be more like.
When I die I'm coming back as Jane Yellowrock. I know she's wounded and flawed, but she's so tough and resilient - I want to be that resilient. I love, love, love all the Jane books. If you haven't listened to them, start at the first one - you need to get the who's who sorted out to enjoy this one.
A captivating adventure that everyone might wish really was possible. What if one could just step out of this timeline and into another? Would things be better? Or is it always a case of "wherever you go, there you are?"
A very different sort of fantasy book. I enjoyed every minute. Loved the sequel too and hope she writes more in this series.
Love the idea of time travel and love the way they get there in this book (and the sequel.) Love the tough but wounded heroine and the way her strength of character saves the day.
Love this series but was a bit (a tiny bit) disappointed in this one only because one of the characters that was killed off last book was referenced as currently alive. A bit discombobulating, but still a good adventure.
If you like first person narrative and enjoy autobiography, you'll love this book. It's articulate, thought provoking and beautifully written. I immediately listened to it again, and the second time I actually wrote down some of her beautiful imagery and insights. I highly recommend it. It would make an awesome book club selection.
Yes! I love listening to this series over and over again.
Faith Hunter's series - Jane/Big Cat have courage and vulnerability equal to Mercy's.
They are seamless and genuine and allow the listener to enter into Mercy's world without interruption.
