Mairi MacGregor hoped to never again lay eyes on Connor Grant. She was ten and one when he promised her he would one day build them a home in her beloved Highlands, spending their lives together. But she was 10 and seven and foolishly weeping when he rode out of the Highlands to join the English Royal Army. She wouldn’t be so foolish as to waste tears on him now. Devoted to her beloved Scotland, Mairi believes Connor is a turncoat and a liar, and there’s nothing she despises more than that.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

What did you love best about Outlander?

Historically correct. Wonderful character development. I love the Jamie and Claire and their growing love for each other. I've read the book 2 times and just wanted to listen to the story play out.

What did you like best about this story?

    Everything

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

Claire, although her voice is not the one I thought would be Claire's. It was great to hear the correct pronouncations of many words.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

this story made me laugh and cry, It made me feel extreme emotions, because of all the things that happen to the characters. The love scenes were nicely written, didn't leave too much to the imagination.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait to listen to the rest of the books and relive this wonderful story again.
