Dunny, with her special abilities, along with her sister and fiesty Poochie, must discover if Dunny's abilities are a curse or gift as they are attacked by evil spirits brought around by an ancient ritual gone wrong as they search for two missing children.
This story has a creepy factor with characters that are entertaining and feel real. The setting in the Bayou enhances the mystery. Written so well and I am hoping there will be more books by Deborah LeBlanc offtered at Audible, Ill be first in line for them.
Xe Sand performs perfectly.
I must agree with the other positive reviews Ive read before I picked this story. Its heartwarming and an easy story to fall into. Rarely have I found characters that I felt more for and wanted good things for. It is rich with strong characters who overcome diversity and challenges, people who would be wonderful to know in life.
Yes, it was familiar but took alternate routes that made this a new and interesting version of Twilight. Nicely done.
The Narrator, referring to the character in the story not Eileen Stevens who did fit well for this audio.
Bonnie "turning" process and who caused it was fitting even if it were predictable.
The last chapter and how the "Narrator" put the possibility to a great conclusion of this book together.
I would not call this a spoof as I would interpret that to mean a comic version. I did not find this funny but an alternate version of Twilight, making this for me a different story altogether.
Of course, this is my one of my top favorite series. Ive read them all and they have been consistently a great read.
Another series by Allyson James, The Storm Walker series is very similar in the strength of the main character .
I also follow Lorelei King as narrator. I am amazed that she can perform Mercy Thompson very convincingly and then she can also perform male voices just as well and can also make several male voices different and distinctive from each other. She helps to make this book even better not that the story itself lacks in anyway.
Yes, I could not put it down until finished.
Ive only heard this story in Audio and it was really good. Commodore James has a great voice for this book, although, the southern accent was not quite right, I wish that had been refined a little more for this reading.
It had me spooked, sad, and cheering. Just what I was looking for.
My first listen of his narration. I could easily choose another of his.
Tyeson. Yes, he was the villian in this book but I felt that his insanity, due to genetics and his position in the community as a family member of such a prominent family was overlooked, ignored and forgotten in his damaged mind. Allowing him to torture and abuse anyone he chose and get away with it. By humans anyway.
It stayed interesting through entire reading.
Davina, I was taken by surprise by this character and the part she played in this story.
The explosion at the Diner.
Enjoyable read that pulled me in. Good story and characters. I look forward to reading more Lucy March.
This one had a slow start for me, it begins with Sarah's diary and it is read in such a morose and raspy way that almost turned me off to the book. As I hate to waste a credit I continued and soon enough I found it drew me in unitl I had to learn if it was insanity or true monsters that plagued these people. It got better and better so glad a stuck to it.
Hmm, I cant think of another Ive read like this but it was well worth my time in the end.
Yes, she did. She did translate the sadness and soul of the characters very well. You can feel the depression.
Oh I did cry toward the end when Sarah finally learns about how her daughter died and that she and her husband's love for her is very endearing.
I found slow areas for me but they were resolved quickly enough. A good spooky book.
Well, there are a few areas that feel rushed or could have been more complete. For example, in the beginning his realization that he could see ghosts was accepted by this injured soldier so easily was a little out of character for him and although this was a bother for me it did not stop this from being a fair story and I did download the second. I just ignored this and got into the rest of the story. Not Bad.
His first physical contact with the "mother ghost" . There is physical pain involved to his touching ghosts and this was a cool concept.
His bus rides and how his pride is hurt and I felt sympathy and his injuries.
A soldiers job is never done.
If you have been reading and are a fan of this series, you will know Loretta, Allison's mother. She is also a medium or seer of ghosts and she has the most adorable personality and I was very happy to read this addition in her voice and point of view. Endearing.
The best was that Loretta was the main character...and she is a "character" for sure. Fun addition to the series.
The floating Roasted Chicken was really cute.
Oh yes, as Ive been leading to in previous comments...this is one of my favorite series and this book is a cherry on top.
If you enjoy Molly Harper, Lucy March and that type of humor, strength in female characters and a "real feel" to relationships of all types then I have no doubt you will enjoy E. J. Copperman as well as I do.
I would definitely recommend this one. Its a classic set up for a nightmare, slasher type story. A group of young adults trekking off into the woods where you would expect them to meet with psychopath in the deep woods...and they do, just not The Crazy you may be expecting.
Danni, She is smart and strong.... making for a pretty good heroine.
His "psycho voice" is really creepy. I loved those parts.
The graphic kills could be intense.
Yes, I do plan to revisit this book and the whole series in the future. It had all the elements I enjoy for a well written and narrated listen.
I liked how the resident ghosts were introduced to the story line.
No true favorites, Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators and she brings a great flavor to each character she reads. She can bring a strength to most lead characters that is not always found in audio.
Yes, and actually did go through this whole series very quickly. I am hoping more in this series comes soon, Ill be first in line to pick them up.
