  • Outliers: The Story of Success

In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

S Prabhu says: "Excellent book; well adapted for the audio format"
    "Gladwell reads Gladwell"
    Overall

Malcolm Gladwell has a wonderful voice, as well as an interesting mind. While he focuses primarily on men, to my disappointment, Outliers is still worth a listen or two. I still like "Blink" best, but will definitely replay this book on my commute. Lots to think about.

Kat Richardson excels at creating vivid, fast-moving novels that blend urban fantasy with paranormal mystery. In Greywalker, Seattle P.I. Harper Blaine is viciously attacked and murdered - but after exactly two minutes, somehow she returns to life. Now she's seeing strange things all around her - dark visions from the shadow world - and living a normal life may no longer be possible no matter how hard she tries.

Nathan Caroland says: "A fun take on the paranormal ..."
    "Mediocre"
    Overall

Both the writing and the audio were mediocre. Not a book I recommend. I won't buy another by this writer.

In this extraordinary novel, Karen Maitland delivers a dazzling reinterpretation of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, an ingenious alchemy of history, mystery, and powerful human drama. Magical, heart-quickening, and raw, Company of Liars is a work of vaulting imagination from a powerful new voice in historical fiction.

Heidi Bradshaw is wealthy, beautiful, and well-connected - and she needs Spenser's help. In a most unlikely request, Heidi, a notorious golddigger recently separated from her latest husband, recruits the Boston P.I. to accompany her to her private island, Tashtego, for her daughter's wedding. Spenser is unsure of what his role as personal bodyguard will entail, but he consents when it's decided that he can bring his beloved Susan Silverman along.

    "Maybe I'm Jaded"
    Overall

I've listened to most of Parker's books as read by Mantegna. Love his voice and up till now, didn't mind the Parker formula. I never got interested in this book, never managed to keep the plot straight, which is saying something for Parker. My least favorite. I'm deleting this one.
