"Makes me wish I was an Imager"
There is nothing like a book that brings out moral questions without the reader/listener actually realizing it! I enjoyed the unexpected twists and challenges faced by our hero and in comparing myself to his action, find myself lacking and then being the richer for having listen to the narration. Go figure....i enjoyed learning something about myself by listening to a purely "escapism" book. I loved it!
The protaganist, who faces difficult choices, kills without hesitation but with regret is by far the character that I favor. He is the vigilante applauded by the masses. and.....he is a lover and a gentle, well-intentioned spirit. Ah, flawed and admirable.
The section in the book where he is governor of a province and takes charge....loved it.
I have great affection for this book and its writer and eagerly await another edition.
The narrator is so skilled that you forget he is there and immerse yourself in the story.
"Its a winner for those who love fantasy"
Characters alive and characterizations that make them feel like friends that you are getting to know. A twisty plot and fun and fury.
Kicked out of the refuge, waiting in the snow in vain reminded me of family relationships.
Khristine is a star. i cant wait to listen to more of her work.
I fell asleep at about 300 am and woke up as my pod hit the floor. Of course i did not go to bed, i slipped back a chapter and listened till dawn.
Love it, write more, send more asap!!!
"Crossing Boudaries and enjoying it"
I wish all my friends enjoyed fantasy as much as i did. This book combines romance that bridges cultures, age and politics with a good adventure story. It has something for all.
Truly in the same vein as this author"s other books, but with a fundamentally different premise and local. but...the underdog is a hero, and for those of us who have been underdogs our whole lives, it is great to be able to cheer for the unexpected hero.
This storyteller draws you in with compelling charaterizations, not only voice but tone and energy and sweetness and anger all come through and the performer fades into the background as the characters join you in your room. i love her!
I would park the car and wait until the scene changed as I could not bear to leave the pieces unheard. Lots of fun, believable characters (even ones you wanted to yell at)
This author should never stop writing...her audience would pine away.
"What a pleasant surprise!"
This is a great listen. I worried about the characters, cringed for them, felt the blows they received. I loved it.
This is a book that I could not 'put down'. I have fallen asleep at 3 am more than once as I listened to the book, only to frantically try to find out where in the story I dropped off. I love the author's unique view of the world
The protaganist as a selfless hero in countless moments - listen and learn about yourself.
Lloyd brought all the characters to life, made me lov Caz. What an artist Lloyd is!
Dont get me started 'cause I will spoil the book for you. Unrequited love which is actually returned, Longing looks, sweet dreams, aghh i loved it all.
"Drivel - don't waste your time or money"
Not from this author. The narrator suffered from working with bad material.
I would never listen to this author again. Work is plagged with platitudes and absolutely no wit.
Dry reading without much artistry. Mind you, consider the material.
I am disappointed. I had hoped for something that would get me laughing at myself and at the target community or maybe even teach me something.
"Love to hate the protagonist, then fall in love"
This is one of the best audiobooks I have read...listened to....in the last four months.
I was so enthralled by the story that i would get to work, park the car and then stay there until a logical break and I love to work so that tells you how involved I was in the story.
Strong passionate voice that makes the character flow easy to follow. I can't wait to listen to more of his performances.
This was a book that I wanted to listen to all at once, but then I wanted to savour it...Oh, the agony of it all! It is the only time that I have wanted to get stuck in traffic so I could listen to more of the story.
I can't wait to listen to the next episode of the story. It's going to be great if it is only half as good as this one.
"mediocre at best - stay away from this one"
I want the hours spent listening back! I will never listen to another one of these. The writing is mediocre at best and the performance is amateurish. The worse part are the sex scenes, written by an 20 year old virgin and narrated in the voice of a 13 year old girl. Where were the editors and directors on this one?
Story has promise, but never delivers. The biggest disappointment is the frustrated anticipation. Likable, and hate-able characters keep me listening and then disappointed me when the writer took them out of character.
It was like listening to a 13 year old. Incorrect emplasis in the readings and mispronunciations galore.
Irritation at being teased with an interesting premise that fell flat in execution.
