Took ma about 45 minutes to finally stop hearing King's voice and start listening to the story.
First what i didn't like. The wrapper.
the 4 tolling down the yellow brick road eating samitches and watching the bumbler wig out. Seemed to set up.
2nd thing i didn't care for was the story about the salties. that seemed thin to me.
What i absolutely loved was the inner story! it was fantastic. i could listen to a whole 30 hours of these fairy tales. wish WTKH was just that. about 7 kick ass little stories.
I appreciate the one, just was hoping for more. yes i am greedy,
Nice treat at the end was the first chapter to the follow up of the Shinning.
very much looking forward to it.
Over all, defiantly worth the credit.
the last thing i heard from hill was horns, which was pretty bad. This was great! good solid story, though i felt the ending was a little short/abrupt. over all if he keeps writing like this, he has a life long fan. the reader was excellent!
If your imagination starts getting rusty, its time to step into a fabulous story of magic, love and mystery. Really enjoyed this. Could have used more twins..
Had a credit burning a hole in my pocket. This fit the bill perfectly. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this odd little tale. would pick up more from this author in a heartbeat!
After listening and really enjoying ready player one, i thought i would jump to reamde. seeing the great reviews here and on amazon. really wish i could get my credit back. Its not a bad story, just slow, not very clever, and sorta boring. there are bits that are interesting. but the virtual bit is flat. the action real life are to far between. the characters are thin. i like the farming parts, or descriptions of country side. but the Russians are getting boring. i am only through the first part (8 hours), will listen to the rest, but its getting hard to hold my attention. probably wont pick up any thing else by this author. kinda surprised so many listeners like it..
i thought since it has such great reviews it might be worth a listen. its not my style. maybe i need to be a teen age girl to enjoy, but this has no new story. every thing is divided into class. demon, witch, vampire. every group is Flat and boring. another vampire that can walk around in the day... wish i could get my credit back from this one. 1/3 of the way through and i am going to have to put this one back up on the shelf. Maybe my daughter will enjoy it in another 12 years...
not awful, just not very good. i like the effort, just not my style. riddlin might help.
