The son of proudly Communist parents, David Horowitz became a major figure in the 1960s New Left. He is by no means the only intellectual and activist to have moved from the Left to the Right in recent decades, but few have done so while maintaining such a high profile and outspoken style. His book therefore becomes not only an important and fascinating memoir of the 1960s but also a devastating analysis of the legacy of that time.

Tom says: "Remarkable story, Wonderful narrator."
"An explanation of what we again experience today"
    Overall

This is an engrossing read. Because I lived through the events described and remember with clarity the outrageous behavior of the far left, coupled with the timidity or acquiescence of the press, this book has not only filled in all of the blanks from that period but also sheds light on the same outrageous tactics being repeated today. If you want to really learn something and at the same time get really mad, read this book.

A larger-than-life hero with a towering personality, Robin Olds was a graduate of West Point and an inductee in the National College Football Hall of Fame for his All-American performance for Army. In World War II, Olds quickly became a top fighter pilot and squadron commander by the age of 22—a double ace with twelve aerial victories. But it was in Vietnam where the man became a legend.

    R. A. Frank says: "Top Notch Audiobook"
    "A terrific read!"
    Overall

Fighter pilot is one of the most enjoyable and engrossing books I have read in many years. The reader is excellent and the book itself just flows flawlessly. Even though Robin Olds' story spans so many years and involves so many different action and inaction assignments, his ability to make the most of all situations and to write about it in such an exciting way makes this a wonderful treat. One can only assume that his daughter, Christina, contributed greatly to the details and the warmth of the story. Our country needs more committed patriots like him.
