    Any additional comments?

If you read the first 8, does it really matter that this is really a bridge book? You will listen to it and then the next. Perhaps it was a little slow and lacking in action, but it really did move the story forward to the next book and connected a lot of dots. Kate and Michael were amazing per usual on the voice acting side. Whoever edited this, and whoever approved the edit should both go back to flipping burgers. It is almost comical how horribly this is edited. Constant repeat sections, and overlong pauses where there should be none. Crazy!

Lifelong friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are together again, though each holds secrets from the others in his heart. They speak of a world shadowed with rumors of war. They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world.

What three words best describe Paul Boehmer’s voice?

Like others, Paul Boehmer's cadence is really strange, and so noticeable that it really is distracting. This is not just Paul's fault, but also of whoever directed and produced this. That said, an interesting difference is when he is doing character voices, that whole stuttered cadence thing that happens in narration seems to disappear. So dialog is just fine I thought.

Some feel the Lady, newly risen from centuries in thrall, stands between humankind and evil. Some feel she is evil itself. The hardbitten men of the Black Company take their pay and do what they must, burying their doubts with their dead - until the prophesy: The White Rose has been reborn, somewhere, to embody good once more. There must be a way for the Black Company to find her....

I really wanted to like this book, but half way through I just could not go on. It seemed very overwritten, but it is possible it was just the narrator that made it seem that way. There certainly seemed like something there calling to me, but sadly this audio version killed for me, what might be a good series.
