What made the experience of listening to Get Off Your 'But' the most enjoyable?

I loved listening to this self-help book read by the author. I was able to capture much more emotion and insight into the concepts he sets forward by listening to him read it the book in his own words.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The author's drive to see the good in his own life and not compare it to others.

  • Solving the Paleo Equation: Stress, Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Garrett Smith, N.D., Matt Stone
    • Narrated By Dave von Kleist, Matt Stone

Solving the Paleo Equation: Stress, Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep is the ultimate guide to customizing your diet and lifestyle practices to your unique physical and metabolic needs. You'll learn how to maximize your health practices and minimize your time and effort - no more driving yourself to exhaustion in hardcore fitness classes. No more strict, unsustainable, and impractical approaches to nutrition, either.

Tammy Reeves says: "A manual for reclaiming health in the 21st century"
"Absolute must-read for any health nut!"
Where does Solving the Paleo Equation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Wow! After reading this book, I felt like I pretty much wasted that $100K I spent on getting a Master's degree in nursing from an expensive private school in Boston. It seems like most of the things I learned about health and fitness in school, from the American medical establishment and the diet industry have just made me sicker and fatter with worsening quality of life and mental health. Thankfully, I found many of the answers I have been searching for to reverse much of the damage I mistakenly caused myself in this ground-breaking book. The authors' personal experiences with damaging their own health through "healthy living" and then finding answers through research and trial and error are very compelling. I imagine that any one reading this book will see part of their own life experience mirrored in its pages.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Solving the Paleo Equation?

This book has a wonderful outline of the many ways that stressing our bodies through dieting, inappropriate exercise, life-stress and environmental stressors can wreak havoc on our hormones and metabolism causing deteriorating long-term health. For example, many of us believe that spending time doing crazy intense workouts at the local gym grunting and sweating for hours every day is what is needed to be fit and that that definition of "fitness" is synonymous with "health". In this book you will find it is not and that actually doing small amounts of smarter workouts are much better for true health and longevity.

Have you listened to any of Dave von Kleist and Matt Stone ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Dave's performances, but I have listened to most of Matt's and he does not disappoint. Very funny! Typical hysterical sarcasm, 80's movie lines, Chupacabra references, and more slang than you will ever hear in any other health book of this caliber.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

God gave you a hypothalamus. Friggen listen to it, already!

    Any additional comments?

I am so happy to have found this book. I am looking forward to a future of listening to my body, eating intuitively, drinking intuitively, exercising intuitively and letting my body lead me on a journey back to restored health and hopefully a wonderful long life.
